about 445 am a small tremor I guess shook the bad thing starting falling heard on the radio it happened on east side also
 
woke to take a leak. layed back down and bed shook. first thought that was a heck of a wind to shake the bed. then realized i think i just experienced my first earthquake!!!! creepy
 
Centered near West Salem, IL. 5.4 on the Richter scale. That's by far the strongest quake we've had here in quite some time. It's probably been a few decades because I'm 28 and I'd never felt anything like this before.

Thought I dreamed it, I have been searching trying to find if there was a earthquake.
 
I slept right through it! I only woke up cuz I heard Ryan running across the kitchen and then open the front door. When I got upstairs everyone else was awake and had heard and felt it! They all left me in the basement!! lol

It was felt in Illinoi, Missouri, Iowa and Indiana. These are the states that Ch. 2 has listed already. Channel 2, 4 and 5 news are talking about it already.

I Guess Ivan Brown was about 20 years too early for his prediction back around 1990/91.
 
I thought I felt two seperate ones. The first one I just thought it was my shepherd scratching and hitting the bed while doing it, it stopped then the ceiling popped and here came another shake.
 
Experiancing my first earthquake was NOT a pleasent event. When you wake up to the thought that your two story house is crumbling (and you and your child are on the second floor) you tend to freak out a bit. This is not an experiance I want to have again. UGH. Freaky stuff. I'm not a fan of earthquakes and now I can say I've actually experianced one.

at first i thought it was an earthquake, then i realized it was just the oil company's shaking more money out of us.:D
 
We felt it pretty good here in decatur. At first i thaugh it was the wind or a storm but then the bed started shaking. I remember a small quack back in about 88 i think but this was definately stronger.
 
Thought the dogs knocked something over, guess I need to tell them Im sorry for yelling at them for wakeing me up. No never mind, I don't want too.
Then I thought someones "METH HOUSE" blew up and went back to bed.
 
At first I thought I was dreaming, then I realized that the cabinet in our bedroom really was shaking/rattling...

Well just shortly after 4:30 here in Olney, IL it was quite an event. We're about 20 miles from the epicenter. I woke up when it was happening and the bed was shaking and there was a roar outside. My dad said he woke up to what he said was a rolling thunder sound prior to the shaking. We figure it lasted maybe upwards to 45 seconds. Mom is St Louis for a business trip and said she thought someone was trying to get in her room.
 
My bedroom window was open, and I was watching COPS, and suddenly I'm hearing a roaring noise, and the house is shaking. First I thought it was thunder, then I realized, there's no storms in the area. I realized after that right away that it was an earthquake. I remember feeling the 4.4 in south Illinois that happened a few years back, too, and the one from the 80s as well.
