What if your favorite driver was on steroids?

Not saying that young athletes don't look up to these guys, but now that MLB has a testing policy (which they hopefully expand) they need to make an example of anyone they catch to show that steroids won't be tolerated. The people in the report are mostly guys who someone else said used steroids without much or any proof. Unless there is a positive test on record, not much can be done to fix the past. Steroids will only do so much in a game like baseball, so reporters need to stop making kids think that all of the talent came from drugs. All of these reporters and politicians make it sound like players use something like this once and get super powers. Instead of the dog and pony shows (even Congress is having another hearing next week) that sell more kids on using steroids, its time to put the emphasis on what is going to be done going forward to stop it from pro down to high school level. All of the emphasis has been on whether steroids gave people an unfair physical advantage with almost no mention of the damage they can do to your body (especially kids).

Geez...So your saying the drugs helped him? Man some of the replies you come up with makes me wonder if you even evaluate your thoughts before you type. I dont think any drivers wants in the back of his mind " Is this guy on something, lined up next to me in the feature...And maybe you could tell me what drugs are suitable other then aspirin for a bad back for a driver to be under the influence...I beleive the track rules cover these issues...Not only that if your under the influence doing that, and kill someone no attorney around is going to take your case...

No I'm not saying that drugs helped him but drugs did not make a throttle stick.

Original question

Ok, the original question for this thread was
"What if your favorite driver was on steroids?"

#28 mod, Mike Haas...Man he doesn't need the roids...he is a monster! :D

OL clark grizzwald is pretty buff. I just hope he can fit into that late model (if not I know a thin cracker that will fit) lol:D

People on that level are going to look for any advantage to make them stand out from the crowd. The bad part is that kids think in order to get ahead they have to do something to enhance their god given talents. Someone said it was like a car with traction control and that is exactly right. Its to bad that some drivers who are damn good have to use some sort of mechanical cheat in order to win. I have lost respect for some guys after they were caught cheating, however when I beat a cheater it did make the win sweeter. JMO

if my favorite driver was on steroids he wouldnt be my favorite driver anymore.people that do that stuff do not deserve anything that they have won or any money they got.anybody can shoot something up your arm and perform better. idiots all idiots.no matter what the sport you are in.

be true to what started the sport in the first place. drive ,heart, determination, and the knowledge to know that you did it with
no help. jmo

Im useing steroids as an example. A point I am trying to get out is, If you are cought useing / test pos. / and convicted by a court of law, then sent to jail for that crime NO MATTER THE SPORT you shoud be no longer alowed to play that sport or get paid from that sport from that point on. If that was done the younger people coming up in sports will most likely say " I better not do drugs or drink or I take the chance of loosing my life as I know it.
As a 3 time award winner of 3 DWI's (and not proud of it) Never once has anyone come up to me and said go win that game / sorry you ran that lady over but your a great ball player / and all cases it's ok we are behind you just go play. NO I was told stay in jail/pay the fine/find another job looser. I guess if I made millions I can buy my way out of things.
Just to fill in the blanks No I do not drink Been soulber a year and a haft now and did not kill anyone thank God. My say is do drugs do the crime do the time.

Not to bring up the past but the accident at Mt. Vernon that I witnessed, that driver used drugs before the races...

I don't mean to belabor the point, but I am going to just to clear something up for you. This statement is a declaration of fact; "THAT DRIVER USED DRUGS BEFORE THE RACES." That statement is not an opinion.

Also, THC stays in your system for up to 3 months in some cases. Just because there is a trace of weed in your system means little, it just means he could have smoked sometime in the past 3 months not that just that day.

this proves nothing! this is all hearsay.
there is no proven test of the level of toxicity from marijuana at any given point at this time. he may have indulged in the past week or even in the past three months. does not prove a level of impairment as does breathalayzer or blood tests for alchohol at or near the time of the accident. unfortunately,as i have witnessed in the past, this circumstantial evidence is ussually enough to bring judgement. its not fair, but this is the way the law works. if you dont think so as a marijuana smoker, try being the responsible person in an automobile accident where a fatality occurs and having blood drawn while your unconcious in the hospital. they will find the traces of thc in your system and you will be punished based on those tests. and those teats will not prove that you were impaired, just that you had smoked marijuana previously. no numbers no .08 and above.
just that you had smoked some pot sometime before the accident happened.

Did not mean for this to go pointing fingers. There is no reason for a drug leval test if it comes back you smoked -- you smoked, eather way it is not legal. Please leave this man alone, who ever he is. No names please. Part of the question is, Will they still be your favorite driver and should he still race with what ever club he was with. If it was proven to be true by a court of law. NOT HEAR SAY.

How did this turn into a MTV thread?

Since I've never been shy about chimming in on any thing controversial, and since it been broached, heres my take on it.

Drugs are drugs. The law determines what drugs are illegal for us to distribute, possess, or use. If you are found to be guilty of selling/possessing/using drugs (currently or in the past) you have broken the law. Once guilty, always guilty. You can't unsvck a lollipop. Level of toxicity shouldn't matter...NO TOLERANCE. Until we reach the no tolerance point, there will always be loopholes.

If you have an accident and are a user of illegal drugs/have any trace of them in your system, wether the drugs were directly reposonsible for causing the accident or not, you should not be entitled to bring legal action against anyone.
I guess what I'm trying to say is, those who break the law should not be allowed to use the law when it convenient for them.

If this country would take away some of the rights of criminals and law breakers things might straighten up a little. Most crooks live better than some people who have worked hard and lived an honest life, only to loose their jobs or houses and are now living on the streets.

Totally agree!

Ok I'll form it in a question that maybe you can understand...If im under the influence of drugs, and the throttle does stick. Do you think im going to react better to this situation, if im under the influence or completely sober? See thats the purpose in the world today is to keep people off drugs! Are you alweays combative to wich someone ask you a direct question and you completely put your flip on it? Never really answering the question, but giving a answer to a question you think I should be asking you? Damn!

No I'm not saying that drugs helped him but drugs did not make a throttle stick.

So if you run a traffic light that is red that is breaking the law as well....
Does this mean you should never drive again?
Going 1 mile over the speed limit is breaking the law. Never drive again?
Drinking 1 drink and driving is against the law.

Just being a Devils Advocate.......

When alot of these players utilized these creams and injections it was not illegal..... So ...................................................... Now what do we do? Grandfather theme? I do not agree with the Roid issue. But some of you people act like you are the next God... We are all humans and the only person who has to forgive me or anyone for the stupid things we do in my life is my " ALMIGHTY GOD " ...

Why would a race car driver use steroids? I would think it would hinder their ability to race by taking their concentration away.

Hay that sounds like a queastion for the # 0, It could go eather way
Racer12 it's just an example, What if he was drunk or high? Both being agenst the rules and the law. Is your driver safe around him?
The law is the law, you break it you goto jail, If a ball player breaks the law he gets tv time and a pat on the back and pay's out.
Can't do any thing about the past so lets just start from here on out clean & sober after all it's going to be a new year.

What drug could a race car driver take that would actually help them? Seriously, I can't think of any. Alcohol - No, Marijuana - No, Speed (or whatever it's called anymore) - I dont think so. Although it may make you more attentive or alert, I guess....Most of them impair you some how and would cause you to drive worse I would think..

Sorry thinking out loud...LOL
