Would you support a Sunday night UMP track in this area?

If I remember correctly, Perigo, you were there 2 nights at the most last year. Am I right? And Mav, I do beleive you did not race at all last year. Am I correct??? Not trying to an a**, I would just like to hear from the guys that race their every week to see who would consider running Sundays. And remember, It may not even be Tri-City thats running on Sundays. JMO and sorry if I upset you guys.
Sorry to burst your bubble .I have been going to TCS all my life just about. I have raced there since 1996 except for the last two years and those two years i was pitting for Ken Johnson Sr. and Jr. And will return in my own car next season (saturday) So, dont tell me I wasnt there son. I was there when you was still in diaphers!!!!!! Oh and not to piss you off I just want to here from those that know what goes on every week @ TCS.
JMO and sorry if I upset you guys...........

sold

Well check this out it is a done deal and they will be running sundays ump lates and mods for sure and yes revin kevin is the owner so take it to the bank

I have been going to TCS for over 40 years Sunday show wont be happaning there the area wont let that work,Bob put up with alot of crap from the area about sat noise,Its ok to slip in a sun show once in a while but a every week show wont go down there.I know this area too well.

I know that Kenny schrader has been talking to Bob Scott about running UMP on sunday nights here in Quincy and he talked to several ump latemodel drivers to see if they would come and alot of them said yes so only time will tell here in quincy. I pray we do go to UMP here :D

I think that it would be a good deal to run on sundays. if you run on fridays and do bad if you run for points you have sunday to make up for it.

I am not scared to go race on the half, racing on the quater is a good way to keep me away. Sundays would be a different deal, I'm for the half, but would not have to give up a better track for the nite to do the quater.

Quincy UMP rumors have been floating for the last few years. I would like to see it too. Quincy has one of the nicest facilities around. Bob knows how to maintain a track and probably has the best equipment around to do it with. That track has some nice grooves and is super smooth. UMP would be bad fast there. I just think IMCA is still too strong around Quincy. It would piss a lot of folks off. Memphis(Scotland County Speedway) is close by too and runs IMCA oriented rules. Not to mention Lee County Speedway up in Donnellson, IA (IMCA) has a lot of cars that run Quincy on Sundays. UMP is probably not likely at Quincy other than the UMP show they have every year.

From a fans perspective I think racing on the 1/2 mile at Tri City on Sunday would be awesome, especially seeing the LMs. If it would be UMP sanctioned then the car count would be good because drivers would be competing for points. Ideally the show would start at 6:00 maybe even earlier and everything would move quicky to get the race done by 9:00 or 9:30. Have at the most 4 classes and maybe even 3 just to get it done on time. LMs, modified and Sportsman. Make it the track where everyone goes to see their tracks top drivers go to compete against the other tracks' drivers every Sunday. I think the most important thing would be to make sure nobody drags there feet and the race doesn't go all night. That would make the neighbors, fans and the drivers happy. JMO.

1/2 Mile not a good idea...

1/2 mile is a moter eater and tire eater. Unless Kevin willing to up the purse, $1500 LM, $1000 Mod, etc. I don't see this getting a very good car count to make the races exciting.

Also, you hear everyone complaining about no passing on the local tracks, I remember when the LM were on the 1/2 mile, by the time they got to the start/finish line on lap one they were so strung out and very little passing.

I enjoy to see a close race an don't see that happening on the 1/2. Leave the show on the 1/4.

It's all in the gearing. If you wind it too tight, you can blow one up as easily at Belleville or Pevely as you can at TCS. Tire eater? Just added truckloads of black gumbo to the surface last year. Biggest problem is staying too tacky.

I would think the average RPM on the half would be consistently higher than the average RPM on the quarter. Maybe somebody who has raced on both can shed some light on this. If true, then the wear and tear is greater on the half, and that is where it gets expensive; not just blowing one up, but maintenance and freshening costs to keep it from detonating.

Tri-City needs go back to the 1/2 mile and i would come back.....there is NO way i will come unless the 1/2 mile is run for the Late Models. The 1/2 mile was built for speed and for aka Late Models. So why not go back to the way it was a few years back. Tri-City would sure get some GREAT races once again. It is so useless to sit there and just watch the 1/2 mile NOT being used. But that is Bob for ya he is to CHEAP to prep it for the Lates to run on.

Like Doug said its all in the gearing, speeds are greater than the 1/4,but if your gearing is correct the Rpm range should be around the same or less than the 1/4.

i,ve ran both tracks and you turn engines harder on the 1/4 than 1/2 The 1/4 eats tires, on the half the car has more time to settle and hook up than burn the tires all the way down the straight. The 1/2 is a great show when there is a competive field not 2 fast cars out of the 10 to 15 that were averaged over the last few seasons. The half hasn't been dry slick since the sprints have been gone.

The RPM range may be the same, but it is turning those higher RPM's for a longer period of time.

Equipment costs are a consideration...

More often when you wreck on the 1/4 mile it involves a lot less loss of equipment then the wrecks at the speeds you would be traveling on the 1/2.

I am just a weekend racer and have to be able to get up to go to work on Mondays ... I've seen too many accidents with more injuries to equipment and the body when the speeds increase.

If I had a vote, I'd vote to run on the 1/4 mile.

I thought the races in all classes were better than when the cars are run on the 1/2 mile. Unless you have a good field 20 - 24 cars, the racing on the 1/2 is boring.

My 2 cents. I would have to agree the purses would need to be increased to offset the cost of running on the 1/2 mile. (Doug ... how much equipment have you bought for a race car? Promoters think the double O was great, and fortunately there were no major crashes. It wouldn't have taken much to wipe out the total amount paid out to the winner had he gotten tangled with cars entering/exiting the track. That was the only thing that made the race interesting, fans were hoping to see some crashes. Folks buying the equipment think otherwise.)
