Lake Hill Speedway?

Question for Marty

....the track may be gone but the memory will last a lifetime.

Marty,

Did you have a logo that you used for Lakehil Speedway? If so, is there a copy around? I would like to include it in the history of the site.

Thanks,
KEG

Good Luck!

Does anybody know what the symbols on Don's door stand for? If not, I will ask him tonight.

Mike

He's not going to tell you! He has kept this secret his whole career. Supposedly there is only one other person that knows... and its not Blanche.

I Have A Couple Of Trophy's From The 50's From Lakehill Speedway, Two Flags That Came From There From The Mid 60's, A Large Roll Of Tickets, Around 1000 Or More Pictures From The First Race "i Think It Was 1949" Up Through Around 1965. Some Pictures Of Greased Pig Races, Wheel Barrow Races, Midget Races, And A Few Daredevil Pictures. I Also Have Most Of The Original Negatives For The Pictures. The Sad Thing Is That My Dad Never Brought Me To Lakehill Because He Liked It When It Was Dirt And Not Asphalt.

I had to scan it twice and then splice the pics together.

Don't look at it too closely... and you can hardly tell... I just didn't feel like taking a ton of time to do it.

If you had a job you would'nt of had time to do even that:eek:....You should maybe think about getting one......Sorry had to...:p

Pictures and memorabilia

It would be great if everyone who has old pictures of the place could bring some to the final get together. I am sure many of the people attending would love to see what it looked like in its glory days gone by. Especially the pre-sixties stuff for me. The first races were in 1949. I still have what is left of one of the old highway advertising posters. I will try to get some copies made. Unfortunately my mom and I lost several file cabinets full of old photos in a flood at the track. Many of those were of the 40's and 50's racing. I only have what seems like a handful now compared to what was in those cabinet drawers.

Hey Fireball......How about Johnny Prior?

I would have to say the 3 that are still racing are Don Klein, Ken Schrader, and Mike Wallace. I know I'm probably wrong, but I wasnt even alive when the place was still dirt lol.

#1......."Dandy" Don Klien.
#2......."Fireball" Leny Garson

Now I knew these 2 charachters for sure where runnin Lake Hill when it was dirt, cuzz I seen em both in action then & now.......... Butttttttttttttt I had no idea who the 3rd guy was untill Fireball told me, Now ya gotta remember the last season of dirt was 1967 wich put most of the guy's named in the 6th or 7th grade and no it's not Shrader unless he ran around it in his go-cart as he did'nt start his career untill 1970 or 71 in Jerry Siffords old chevy, Rusty Wallace started drivin around 72-73 same as me, Mike Wallace started around 73-74,Stu Springer although he's in the geezer club just ain't old enough. Johnny Prior hmmmmmmmm thats one heck of a good guess and one fasssssssssstttttt dude but the question was "still active drivers" and I have'nt heard his name in years except in old war stories. Keep guesin............

Congrats Andy!

I never thought the word WINNER would ever be positively directed in your direction!

LOL!

Now that the name is mentioned... it sounds so easy.
