Lake Hill Speedway?

noise?

I wonder if anyone living around there has complained about the noise from the trains coming through. I remember the day of the reunion how often they seem to be rolling through there, and they certainly weren't quiet. Seemed like about every 15 minutes or so give or take a few. Of course, it's not constant noise as an auto race would be but, I wouldn't exactly call that a nice, quiet neighborhood.
deuce

Im all with you on that one. KEG can you give us some kind of up date? is there any progress? Come summer time this might be all forgoten. I'd hate to see things not happen. Any chance of anything happening during the summer? I'm shure 581 post later you can see there is still life in Lake Hill Speedway. PLEASE MAKE A POST

Noise

I agree about the noise factor with the two sets of train tracks. I would rather listen to a few hours of racing each week than 7 days of nonstop trains. That is why i never thought that condos were a viable use for the property. I would NEVER even consider living there. Shops are out too, because you have to have a little visibility to do any business. I wish the developers a lot of luck, but there is a reason that everywhere you look in the area is developed, and this property is still sitting there vacant.

I lived and played between those tracks for a good portion of my life. After you are there long enough, you can sleep through the trains and still hear someone walking down the pea gravel road! As far as as the track noise vs train noise.........I think the fact that track lost it's grandfather clause exemption as far as zoning in St.Louis County would be a big hurdle to clear. But you never know what kind of deal could be achieved for special event use etc.

All it would take is someone with the desire and the MONEY.
If land developers can take away your hard earned property through eminent domain, with the lure of "big revenue," anything is possible. Come up with a well thought out plan that pleases everyone. Get some big names involved and present it to the city. There's got to be a way, and there's got to be the "jack" to do it.
deuce

The shops idea will work IF it was for storage or a whearhouse bulding's. The "hurdle" was cleared thats how KEG got to do the renuion deal. KEG please drop a note on this before it turn's into one of those "smoking ban" threads PLEASE. I still pray for some thing racing to be there to save the old track.

Shops

My error, but when I think of shops, I think of commercial uses like a hair salon, restaurant, shoe store and the like. I think of warehouse and storage as industrial type uses. Maybe an industrial park would work?

I think the same way on that. Hate to see it turn into something like that, just like to see it stay a track of some sort. For the frist time I haft to say I'm loosing hope in all of this:(

Make it a racing complex,. Have cars to go for rides around the track, Have a history musem, and some race shops!

i like the idea of a go kart track, along with an arcade of some kind, but go kart tracks seem to be short lived.especially one that far back from the road... alot of business would be lost due to the fact you couldn/t see it. there was a track about a mile or less down forest ave that closed down. grand prix speedways didn't make it, either.

make the track for pro racers like My driver Bryan. You know SLKA /QMA / I70 QMA
That sorta raceing. But untill KEG comes on here it's just a dream

its getting way to quiet in here, making me scared. someone somewhere has to have some good news.
I'm with you on that one. Just came from the track to take a peek. It's spooky being there with no one around, Looks like a gost town. Looks like it's just Me and you and midgrt racer left. I have asked way too many times if KEG or LEADFOOT can give some kind of good news but nothing. My hopes are looking down to. :( Looks like when summer time gets here it will all be forgoten:( Keep your fingers crossed, I'm still praying for good news:D

What's Up At Lakehill -It's Been a Quiet Winter

Please excuse my departure. As Leadfoot previously mentioned, the months of effort for reunion took me away from several other projects and duties. I have been quite busy catching up and that kept me distracted from stlracing.com and related issues.

The future of the track is still very open. The condo idea remains on the top of the list but due to the current real estate market, no activity is planned until the market shows signs of a turn-around. There have been many comments related to problems with the site and difficulties in developing condos at this location. I agree with most of them - but .... I also know of ways to solve most of them. If the site was easy to develop, it would have happened long ago. The problems are the reason the track still exists. And the problems are the reason we can use our imagination to realize other possibilities.

I still have hope we can work out a racing-related development at this site. It seems like a natural fit except that racing and its related enterprises have theirs own unique issues and hurdles. Therein lies the challenge.

I really do appreciate the enthusiasm from everyone I have met through Lakehill. It is this enthusiasm that give me hope and inspiration. It's turning that hope and inspiration into a plan that investors can believe in and, more importantly, invest in that makes the challenge.

Considering my inexperience with racing and lack of knowledge as to what brings customers, what makes money, and what is needed to fill the needs of the racing community, I am really at a loss as to how to develop new ideas that would work at this site. It's is way too risky to venture into an area of limited experience and have faith that you are making correct choices. I am open to discussing ideas with anyone and would appreciate thoughts from those who have reasonable ideas and insight. I can meet individually, we can set up an open meeting, and/or we can continue to talk through this website. I need sound ideas and investor leads to take this to the next step.

The door is open.
