I dont know Kevin....maybe tires and why the rule change with the floorboards and firewall? Not saying im against it but damn.....we are being alienated from going to other tracks now with thay rule change! You might as well let us go with weight jacks now and lets bring the old sportsman cars out of the barns! Maybe if you do that the car counts would go up. I personally think the motor rules are fine. I mean i think we all need to work together not against each other, with the sheet metal rule now i feel we are working against one another. Lets be honest, if a guy is running for national points he cant go to a track where the other guy he is either chasng or is chasing him! This rule does nothing more than alienaye us to running tracks around here and that is assuming you can get the other tracks to go along with it! You know in a Facebook comment you called all of us a bunch of cry babys.....as im sure your well aware by now that comment did not set well with me. Apparently you havent read any of the comments from b-mod guys! Then your wife gets on here and says you guys have always tried to keep this class affordable! How are you doing that by keeping us from running other tracks? I realize that you dont have to change your floor pans and fire walls in your car but what about the guys that do change over? What if they want to run other tracks? They cant now with that rule change. Im with other drivers....lets focus on the more serious issues, such as tires. I guess everyone is assuming we are still allowed to run the emod A&H tire. If thats the case do we have a option to run street tires? If we run the emods are we allowed to sipe? What is the rules on this? You say you have always had the rules meeting in January, that i know is a fact but at the Taking It To The streets show your wife was telling people when they picked their checks up at the pay out window that you guys was having a rules meeting for the street stocks in three weeks! Those three weeks have came and gone! Where is that meeting at? Kevin work.wirh us not against us! You may not think you are but we feel you are! We realize with the dome race you have been busy, but talk to us....we all feel like we are shit on more than any class out there and then when we try to talk to you or any other promotor we feel you guys act like what we have to say isnt imporyant because we are a "support" class! Talk to us is all we are asking for, listen yo is and we are more than willing to listen to you also.We have always had the rules meeting for the past 11 years the 3rd of January for all classes. They quit running the street tires for safety. I was a official out there at that time. We were picking blown up tires off the track every night. The sidewalls are not designed to handle high loads at low tire pressure. When the track was 1/4 mile it was alright. The speeds reached on the 3/8 are too much.
The main rule I am concerned about is the tire rule. I would like for us to be back on street tires. You can buy a new copper cobra tire of similar size for $70.( There are other options beside that) And a new Hoosier will cost $125. And the street tire will last longer .That is the biggest killer for us and many other car owners. I have also seen where other tracks across the country have going to a rule that says no more than 53% rear weight. It makes the cars more competitive and safer. ( I have seen and read about cars where they skimp on the roll cage to put more weight in the back) And I would also like you guys to allow the Ford's and dodges to run a factory 2 barrel Holley carburetor. The biggest 2 barrel carb that Ford used that wasn't a Holley is only 412cfm. Anything bigger than that and they used a factory Ford Holley carb. You guys are allowing the Rochester to be bored out to 500 c.f.m. this rule should help even that out for everybody
Fireball.....for the most part... .YES. I mean there is a few other things that are different but as of right now....yes they are pretty much the same.help me out...the sportsman cars had factory rear suspensions for the most part--put a aftermarket fire wall in one and you have a street stock ???
I currently don't have a car so take my opinion for a grain of salt.
I do like the current rules. I honestly don't have an issue with the fire wall rule. I was reminiscing to simpler times in my earlier post. I'm with Kevin in that the Rochester is one of the best engine rules there is. Go ahead and spend big bucks on an big motor. Only so much air is getting through that Rochester. I'm a street tire guy and would love to see the class go back to em but I'm also aware that the speed at highland/ Belleville is a lot different than the speed at tri city. I can guarantee the street tires would be fine at the slower tracks. I can't say for tri city.
I'm certainly not on the up and up on what Hoosier is or isn't making. But in my opinion if street tires were ever gonna make a come back the time is now.
