For those wanting more Tri-City info, here you go!

Racer 85 you still didn't answer my last question..HOW are we suppose to take the news,,, be BIG boys and girls and take it on the chin...and if you can't beatum join um...????? Thats all well and good but what do we do with the TWO sportsmans. Not much market for them now. At least we still have Highland..I can see it now consi's every night..!!! It would have just been nice to race more than ONE night a week. The sportsman class was NOT dying out, as a matter of fact it was growing, at TCS ....we were sold out...get it:mad:
Maybe if you keep making Stan Lester look bad then maybe you can recruit all of the Fasttrack cars to insure you'll have a full field all year!!!!!
OH, one more thing if your going to race, learn to know the difference between an streetstock/bomber and a sportsman...because they are NOT the same!!!!

Momma Drew

I had someone P.M. me and asked me what I thought about losing the Sportsman class...!!!!! Well it's like anything else...It's all about the BENJAMINS... I am sure in some race track office someone made such a sweet deal that Kevin just couldn't turn them down. Crate brings in their own scorekeepers, maybe they are kicking in to supplement their own purse, because they would want more money than the sportsman purse paid, WHO knows.
But in turn I think we Sportsman have been dealt a bum deal. Someone said that the class was all but washed up. WELL, if that were the case, where is the PRO-STOCK class ---GONE, the 2 man-Crusier class ---GONE, the short lived Nascar Weekly series---GONE. Our very own weekly sprint car series...NOT, The Limited Late Models--- GONE...OH NO, wait they have been resurrected in a LATE CRATE. But, the Sportsman class has been around since the 70's, So I don't know HOW you could say they were all but, washed up, a dying breed, I think you called us... NOT!!!
Sean made the comment about having 40 crates at the track for their fall race. WELL, so did the Sportsman class!!!! The class was holding it's own and them some.
Anyway I guess you will put me on the list with mad daddy and others as a whinner and a complainer, but I think I made some good points in my posts AND don't forget, after all they are JMO..... and you have yours!!!!

One more thing Bad things always comes in 3's ...What next.
1. We lost Godfrey
2.TCS lost us......
3...................!!!!

MOMMA DREW

I do know for a fact, that the CARS series does NOT supply thier own scorekeepers, or supplement purse's. I dont know what you guys were racing for but I would bet it is not much or any less than what we race for.

Also I would like to know about all this money that Sean and CARS series is throwing around, by buying racetracks to race at. Sean lives so modest, I never would of guessed he had all that money laying around. LOL;) Maybe next time instead of paying off racetracks they could add it to 12th place points.

I neccessarily didn't mean a payoff...!!!! I said incentives ...you know Sponsor monies .. NOT out of the promoters pocket.... DUH!!!!!
And I was given the impression when the only time I saw them race at Greenville (By the way we were there in support of the Steetstock class, the crates was an added feature!!!) I was told that CARS. were running the whole show...their own officials...scorers...etc....

But, the Sportsman class has been around since the 70's

I thought that, at least in the STL area, the sportsman class in the 70s and 80s evolved into modifieds in the late 80s to early 90s. The cars that guys like Denny Rheinecker or Terry Cox were winning track championships with 20-25 years ago were basically street stocks that lacked front fenders but featured big nerf bars.

The current sportsman class was more or less created to bridge the gap betwteen your steet stock/bomber type class and modifieds.

I'm sorry for the confusion here but the CARS series has never raced at Greenville. That was the fastrak series, Granite has went with the CARS series two totally different Deals. That must be where the confusion of the scorers and stuff came into play.

I am not going to bash the crates, I think they are a growing class. But, there is a cost difference between the 2. For every high dollar sportsman there are several low buck teams. Same as there is in crates. I agree that repairing a sportsman is cheaper than a crate. We ran a latemodel and repair costs were higher than our sportsman program. As someone said before most used late model parts are just that - - used(up).

Everyone bashes ALLIED but who has been more consistent over the years? ALLIED!! They have their problems but the sportsman have been treated well. (SPORTSMAN NATIONALS) Rule changes are limited but have been opened up in recent past. Allowing aftermarket heads helped a lot of teams out. They would do not drop classes over the winter without letting the drivers know before hand.

40 crates at the tcs crate nationals 80 sportsman at the sportsman nationals at pevely mmmmmmmm... you do the math if you can racer 85. some of the comments you have made are incredibly insensitive and gloating. Do all you want to promote the crates but don't belittle the sportsman guys They have every right to compain about this decision, many of them have supported tcs for many years and I don't think they deserve the condicending attitude you have shown on here.

It looks like my point has been made then. This all started because these people started to insult crates and were very insentive also. But, when the tide has changed you guys don't like it do you. So don't belittle crates and I wont belittle sportsman.

I feel for the Sportsman cars because they have been very supportive to the track over the years. :( It's ashame that they had to be dropped.
But I also BELIEVE the C.A.R.S. Series is very legit and respected series after just one short year and they will bring the cars in over a period of time to a very nice number. The C.A.R.S. series was needing a place to call home and T.C.S. is home to them as we speak. Good Luck to the C.A.R.S. organization.

This looks like something my 10 year old would say. not really he has better manners.

Are you reading the same posts??? The majority are directed to TCS. Some about the disagreement of the cost --- sportsman vs. crates. Some venting because they lost the ONLY track they race at, NOT ALL racers TRAVEL. SOME discussion hoping allied will open up their rule but NO bashing.
Re-read Extremes post and maybe you'll understand!!!!!

Almost all classes have evolved from bomber to street stock to sportsman to pro stock to mod or econo late model to full blown late models. And drivers have either moved up, dropped down a class and started all over again or wnt o another track or quit racing altogether. I am in no means bashing anyone class of cars with my statement. Just passing along what I have seen in over 35 years of being involved in racing either as a fan , a pit crew member, or an official. Unfortunately somebody suffers when a promoter or racing association makes a decision like Kevin and Tammy did.
Good luck to all involved on both sides of the issue.

I doubt dropping the sportsman was done for profit reasons. The average car count for sportsman was 26.8, I highly doubt crate lates will average that. If the crates come close to that mark I would bet that it will be at the expense of super lates. Trista and I had no plans to run the sportsman this year except maybe at the beginning of the year until we got a late model together. We may put a crate together to run until she turns 16 and then switch to supers, although the friday thing may be a little tough for us to make every week. I guess all that means I don't know what we are going to do. I may have to run highland with the sportsman until she turns 16? or sell it? Kenny

You guys that keep talkin crap on sportsman are crazy!! i agree with momma drew why bash each other...its dumb..i dont care about the crate people racing..thats fine..i lost one of my tracks that makes me mad..but we are all racers wanting to race...if you guys are drivers you should understand where the sportsman boys are comin from...i wanna race..u wanna race...my choices are now limited..u should feel for us...instead a few of u are sh#t disturbers...not cool...i would be just as mad if it was some other class that took our spot..it ****s...but if u want keep bein the way u are!

Racer 85 mabe if you would get a job or somethiing instead of your name being on this post 50 times you could buy a better car. No one on here has said that you guys shouldn't have a place to race but you need to stop starting crap cause someone may finish it for you.
