BACK WHEN YOU COULD TAKE A MAN'S WORD FOR MORE THAN FACE VALUE.

That and the hand shake days are long gone. It's become an all about money and no one really cares who they screw type of world today as long as they make their monies. ( this comment is in general ) ( but if the shoe fits  :D ) J/K
man if that ain't the truth

This thread has turned stupid like many others. Kevin & Tammy are trying to do what is best for their business, you know a business that they have invested I would assume hundreds of thousands of dollars into. How many millions of people are in the STL area anyway? Two tracks can't survive on a Friday in STL???? How many tracks in the STL area run on Saturday nights? It seems like that works just fine but we can't have two tracks on Friday???? Hmmm that is interesting.

Quit beating this horse as it died along time ago.

looking at some schedules, voigt and kreke are planning on running tcs regularly that is two of bellevilles better late models belleville didnt have a good mod car count last year but the late models almost always ran a consi.the late models put the people in the stands and this will hurt belle clair.I also believe ump is waiting to the last minute to announce it thinking belleville will be too busy with week to week operations.

Great post and well put. Its amazing on almost any tri city thread..you have a couple of people who even killed their own thread..jump on it and go nuts about the lawsuit. And to say Jimmy is helping tri city by putting stuff on her...uh..he puts stuff on here about all tracks. If he has an issue with what you say..its usually because you have said it in a mean or disrespectful way(remember the montgomery thread..was killed because of **** posts).

What so many of you fail to comprehend is that it's not just the issue of two tracks running on the same night the issue is that Kevin wants to run that other tracks program at his track on the same night.

If Kevin had announced that he was moving to Friday's with a program of Crate L.M. B-Mods, street stocks and special shows no one would have been upset.

But you can't go and steal someone elses ball glove and then expect people to think your a real stand up kind of guy.

I think Kevin's problem is that what made him a great race car driver is going to make him a terrible business man and that is that he wants to get to the front no matter who might get wrecked.

The move to Friday night was made because Godfrey closed.

They don't run on Saturdays because there are tons of tracks in the area running on Saturday already, including I-55, Highland, MCS, Mt. Vernon & Farmington.

Do you all think this area can't support more than one Friday night track?
I guess thats why they moved from Sundays because there was a ton of tracks running on Sunday already , including hmmmmmm I cant seem to think of any right now. oh ya just remembered the go cart track in O'fallon runs on Sundays .

Amen Racefantoo , I could not have said it any better .

He is running nearly the same show he ran on Sunday as well as almost the same show Godfrey ran..

Most all Saturday night tracks in the area run just about the same show.

And the first person to contact and thank me for closing the MCS lawsuit thread was Mel Kinnaird.

Wow..imagine that. I know Mel also..just not buddy to buddy..as some of these people on here CLAIM to be. He wouldnt want that type of crap and im sure..he also realizes Kevin's position. Thank you for the reply

Why dont you go gripe about all the tracks that run on Saturday nights. Dont they pose a risk..in drawing cars from other tracks? Really...plenty run Saturdays..run the same classes..oh..but wait...that doesnt have anything to do with Tric City or Kevin Gundaker. My mistake. Go ahead..continue on

"Can't the STL area support more than one track on a Friday night?"

Let's see. Fayette County lost a ton of money over the last two seasons and finally Charlie threw in the towel and called it a day after the lack of support. That was Friday night racing. Then Godfrey was sold to be developed into a cement plant. Don't think that would have happened if it was more profitable as a race track, and it ran on Friday nights. At BC on Friday nights I have seen the stands less than half full on numerous occasions, certainly not a good sign for the future of the track in general.

All three were UMP sanctioned, so I doubt UMP was pleased when they closed.

So based on the fact that the other Friday night tracks apart from BC have already shut down due to lack of car count and support, why would anyone think this area could support multiple tracks on Friday nights? To me it just seems the logical answer to that question is no, as has already been proven.

Of course, that's just my opinion. I hope both tracks succeed and thrive, because I would really hate to see the area end up with only one or two tracks controlled by one or two people, but that seems to be where we are headed.

Godfrey was certainly drawing as many cars & fans as Belle-Clair. The track promoter was not the track owner.. The track owner saw $$$ signs and sold it.

A basic principle of economics is that assets are always put to their most profitable use. If the track was thriving and making a lot of money, the lease payment would have been much higher, making it profitable for the owner to keep it or for someone else to come in and buy it and run the track themselves. That wasn't the case; the track was sold and is now a concrete plant. I think your comment about drawing as many fans and cars as BC says a lot about the state of BC as much as it says something about Godfrey.

The key to any business is providing a product that people want. In racing, that means providing a good show in a good environment.

If you are doing that, you will be successful.

Of course, certain factors do come into play on which night your event is held on. We all know Saturdays are the most convenient for the most people. Friday is probably the second most convenient night for most people.

So what's not being said is

Get out there and support your local track before you lose it!!!

WOULD KEVIN BE HAPPY WITH THE FAN COUNT AND CAR COUNT GODFREY HAD? I WOULDN'T THINK SO.

I would tend to believe that most Friday venus (no matter where they are) would tend to draw a local fan base due to the fact that most people work on Friday and don't necessarily have an hour or so to travel to get to a track..Saturdays on the other hand are usually a little more freed up time wise..
