Smoking Ban Jan 1,2007

Man oh man, you've shown the height of your intelligence with the numorous tough guy posts you've made on this site already, but this takes the cake. Is that the only way you can find to settle disagreements or if someone says something you may not like? The only time violence is needed is if you are faced with it. You might want to tame down your threats or promises as I sure you will call them. simple fact is, you're going to go there with the wrong person someday and may get suprised. Now I'm sure this will get me put on your hit list, but oh well, I've been on many jealous husband's hit lists.

Bolo, I wasn't even talking to you or about you unless you've changed your name to Marilyn. Why the pshycotic outrage? You need help man.

As I have stated before, I will never approach you. I have no reason, cause or desire to ever approach you. I am not the one who is angry and making threats.

So unless I specifically mention you by name, do not assume that any of my post are directed at you.

Also I have reported bolo's post to JimmyD and requested that this thread be closed. Which is a shame because I believe people really did enjoy reading it.

I sincerely apologize to the members of this board for any wrong doing on my part in escalating things to this level, and for the language that was typed by other users in some of the later posts.

This is exactly the kind of crap/and people that need to be blocked and monitored on this site. This is/was totally uncalled for. It is a simple discussion about a topic that is affecting people in our country right now and then all of a sudden it turns to this. Totally uncalled for. Some people need to try and have some self-control...

I find it ironic and hypocritical that someone posts a video depicting cruelty to animals, makes statements regarding his feelings on animal abuse and how no living being should be abused. Then turns around and posts garbage like that, full of threats and offerings to fight, and braggings of putting someone in the hospital.

Wow he sure got his feathers ruffled..
Bolo that was very much so uncalled for. I am the only one on this web sight that can talk like that
Now it was not very nice to speak to King Eddy that way. I enjoy his debates..... You CAN carry on a conversation with him without the verbal abuse. Now you on the other hand wellllllll forget it.......

My First Last An Only Comment

You can still smoke in your car. You can smoke outside and you can smoke in your home. Like I said before why is it ok that you can not smoke in a bank court house or any store but it is not ok that you cannot smoke in a bar or restaurant?

:eek:Just had to correct your one comment ...about smoking in your car in the State of Illinois this was added to the NO SMOKING BILL .... SMOKING IS NOT PERMITTED in your car if you have young children riding with you. Some say it didn't pass but my lawyer said it did because, I called him to ask.!

As A former smoker 18 years smoke free! I don't let anyone smoke in my home. However I do not ask anyone to put out their cigerette , if I am a guest in their home. WHY should Bar owners, bowling alleys...etc be TOLD
what they can do in their own. Places where most people went to relax for some down time. Government offices and hospitals have been smoke free for years but the do gooders just had to go an push the issue until they got their way. Most evey restraunts, I'd say are 98 pecent that I have seen are smoke free anyway!
As far as rights being taken way THEY really haven't. Just as KING said. They have just been shifted to the left just a bit. Non smokers always were allowed to come into any place (that allowed smoking) no one said the couldn't. They are the ones who chose to NOT go in. NOW it will be as the "DIRT CHEAP" commercial calls them "THE PERSICUTED SMOKER" who chooses NOT to go in.

Problem solved on the car and kid thing. Slapped that little rodent on the luggage rack on top of the car and then puff away :)

Momma Drew, thank you for letting me know that. I do not live in IL so I really had no clue. Now I believe this is wrong. I own my car and that is my child. I'm tired of the government telling me how to raise my kids (ie: I can't spank them or to much time out will hurt there selefestem(sp)). This is going to mean that they are going to start looking to find people smoke with kids in there car when there is real child abuse going on.

Lisa I laughed so hard I almost peed my pants.

In my opinion knowingly poisoning your child is child abuse. Yes, its your car, your child and your right to smoke. But you are responsible for that child and everything that happens to him or her and for their well being. Those children have no choice but to sit in that car seat and inhale poison. Automobiles today are pretty airtight, even with the windows cracked they are so aerodynamic that not alot of fresh air comes in. And before you bring up smoking at home, well thats a little different. There is probably adequate circulation and more sq footage to help disipate the smoke in your home. A car is similar to a gas chamber.

If you intentionally fed your child lead paint chips you would go to jail. Second hand smoke is no different. No matter what laws are passed or not passed forcing a child into this situation is wrong. Why anyone would want to expose their child to this danger is beyond me. If my daughter did this to our grand daughter, there would be a huge can of whoopazz opened up.

PLEASE don't tell me that it is illegal to put them on the roof ! Linda we put a bug guard up on the top :D :D The bugs in the teeth do eliminate the cry in the car " I'M HUNGRY ". Two Birds 1 Stone ;)

King I'm just going to agree to disagree with you on this one. I do smoke when my child is in my car I also smoke was less with him in the car. Lead paint is illegal smoking is not.

Alcohol is legal. Does that mean you put it in your infants bottle or sippy cup and force them to drink it? I would bet the answer is no. And why don't you? My first guess would be, because it is not healthy for them, or because you just shouldn't do it.

Smoking is legal too. According to the law, your not supposed to do it till your 18. How old are those kids that are stuck in carseats puffing right along with their parents every exhale? And do you think that forcing that second hand smoke upon them is healthy? Probably not. And for the exact same reason, you just shouldn't do it.

Sorry, I fully agree with the no smoking with kids in the car law, and any other law when it comes to protecting kids. Especially since they are 100% dependent upon parents for protection, and at our mercy when we do things to harm them.

To The General Members On This Board

"NOT KING EDDY" I am sorry for having such a potty mouth on this board as I do know their are small eyes that may be viewing and it does not set a real good example for them. I just forgot my pill last night :D
Thanks Ed

Ok after this one im done (I Think) Hay King a quick one WITHOUT the B/S please. Just a question please help me on this one.
You say a house probably has adequate circulation or sq. footage to disipate the smoke. And how is that a little different than a bar or a restaurant? There is no dought that the adv. bar and most of all a restaurant is a lot bigger than my house. If I keep the windows closed the smoke will get thicker and thicker. Are you saying it is ok to smoke in your own house but not a restraurant. So can I or not smoke at home with my kid here. If the law says you can at home /and can't in a car what gives? please dont twist this one around just a simple "It's the same or it's not.
Ok thats it goto go Opps almost forgot----------
Dirtgril good idea, The bug shield thing...... If the guy in front of you flicks his butt out the window and it lands in your kids mouth, Can you get busted for a minor smoking?:D:D:D
By guys good luck on your endevers on smoking or no smoking bye:p:p

Well, not sure how I "twist" anything around, I just try to tell it like it is. But you know what a stickler I am for wanting people to back up their statments, Tell me what I've twisted around, or what I've ever said that is b.s.

Yes there is a difference. Lets use a single level smaller home call it 1200 sq ft. If there are three smokers that is about 400sq ft/person(smoker). Granted most houses are bigger and usually there are only 1 or 2 smokers. My house has 3700 sq ft of living space (inc. finished basement) that would work out to over 1200 sq ft /person. But we will stick with a smaller home for the sake of argument.

Restaraunts lets go medium sized. 6000 sq ft. (the size of an Applebees including the bar) seating for aprox 170-190(w/bar) Lets assume they reserve 40% of their capacity(w/bar) which would mean 68-76 seats for smoking. Consider 1600 sq ft is used for kitchen/storage/restrooms, you now have the possibility of 68 smokers in a 4400 sq ft dining area. Or about 64 sq ft per smoker (not patron ...64 sq ft. per smoker). If you include the non smokers there is only 36 sq ft per person. These figures are assuming a full restaraunt of course.

I'll leave the answer for you to decide. I have only stated the facts without any commentary or b.s. or twisting things.

you tell me which is better.

3 people smoking in 1200 sq ft. (400sqft/person if everyone is smoking)

or

68 people smoking among 170 people in 4400 sq ft. (64sqft/person)

or

1 person smoking in a 16 sq ft car interior with a kid strapped in a car seat.

As far as where I would smoke with a kid. As far away from him/her as possible. When my wife and I did smoke we cared enough about their well being that we never smoked around either of them. At home it was outside or in the garage with the door open. We did smoke in our vehicles but never with either of them inside.

Well thats what in talking about, it all comes down to the sq foot.
I did not say you twisted anything, just asked for ya not too.
This whole thread is full of B/S
But lets get started:
1) Forget the sq foot none of the opps. are none of them are better but everyone of those people made there choice to stay and deal with it.
2) It nice to hear someone will go that far to take care of there kid
3) You got an answer for everything, Thats funny, you have brought life to this thread (but every now and then someone wants to take it away from ya)
4) I still want to know who gets introuble if your kid has a butt in his mouth, riding on the roof of your car?
Take care king best wishes I realy got to get ready for summer just keep looking to see if JimmyD is going to send this thread to bed. Bye:D:D:D
