I was there that day. We were sitting in the grandstands and absolutely sure Dan had actually flipped outside the track. Winner Stan Fox was also in an equally horrific crash at Indy three years later.
The last time I was by the track it still looked like it could be race ready at any time. I'm pretty sure that was in June when i was in Illinois. Every once in a great while there will be another rumor that Tony Stewart is going to buy it, but that's about like any of 100 different tracks at...
This is really the first full year I've lived in Indiana. I made the 5 hour trip from Olney, IL a couple of times for the Dream. This is the first year where I could get tickets early enough in the year and it was feasible to do the World.
I try to make my last call between Rossburg and the track if I have to make one. Trying to make a call at the track can be really difficult. I know I used to do pretty well walking down to the south end of the track, but haven't tried that in a while.
I prefer non wing. They lack a lot of the speed of the winged cars, but produce a lot more side by side racing. I've seen good winged races, but not nearly as often. I think a lot depends on where you live too though. I live in Indiana now where there are a ton of really good non wing drivers...
been checking over on indiana open wheel, and there hasn't been anything posted other than Jon Stanbrough is not going to be there. If anybody is able to put something togeterh that quick or get a ride it would probably be Levi Jones.
Sorry guys I'm used to Angell Park being a Sunday night track. I forget the Fireman's Nationals is a Saturday event. The list as posted should be fairly accurate outside of Pierce.
I've seen nothing on Tracy Hines or the whole TSR program not showing up for this race. Unless I find...
I'd say they will get 25 to 30 there are at least 3 other open wheel races on Sunday night. The fireman nationals at Sun Prairie has a big payout and Haubstadt is running MSCS which always has a pretty good purse for non wing sprints.
I'd say you can pretty much mark Aaron Pierce off the...
Non-wing sprints are on the card to draw locals. Indiana is not a late model state at all. They put on a really good show and in my experience put on a much better show than winged sprints.
This will now be a 3 class show. The non wing sprints will also be running a $5,000 to win show. I probably would have checked this race out myself as well, but I will instead be heading to the World 100 for the first time. I must say that as much as I miss the tracks back in Illinois and...
According to the USGS we're up to 23 earthquakes since Friday. I think I've felt 6 now. Last nights started out as a rather minor tremor and then at the end it was pretty loud with some pretty good shaking, but it was short and ended rather abruptly. Last nights event has been downgraded...
