0Your thoughs on UMP Good/Bad?? - Belle-Clair Speedway not so sure from a Facebook post I just read.

[BCOLOR=#f9f9f9]Congrats Don. I really hope this works out. With Krekes money behind you Im sure it will.[/BCOLOR]

[BCOLOR=#f9f9f9]Who cares about Summer Nationals. Its a weeknight race which usually only pays 5k. The regional guys show up and some national guys that want to make a quick buck. Put up that kind of money on a Friday night when theres really not a crown jewel late model race and the same guys will still be there.[/BCOLOR]

[BCOLOR=#f9f9f9]Also like to see a collaborative effort for the street stocks with Belleville and Granite City, similar to what they do now with the 4 cyls. One track run one, one run the other. Next week switch. That way your not splitting ALL cars between tracks. Late models and modifieds are pretty much going to go where they want. But I dont foresee many drivers at Belleville caring a whole lot about national points.[/BCOLOR]

[BCOLOR=#f9f9f9]Ive bartended for several years now. When i go in to break up a fight, I know the danger exists of a weapon being used. One time it happened. But if your going to knowingly put yourself in a potentially dangerous situation (breaking up a bar fight OR going into a known hot heads pit area) you should be prepared for the worst. Maybe Al Kreke will think twice before attempting to use himself and goon squad to intimidate and/or assault a rival. [/BCOLOR]

[BCOLOR=#f9f9f9]Kevin Ward Jr was killed that very same night because he let his temper get the best of him and put himself in a dangerous situation. This could have ended the same way. Lets not give racing another black eye.[/BCOLOR]

[BCOLOR=#f9f9f9]My name is Randy Vincent and if anyone wishes to discuss anything further with me, you can find me in the Springer pit.[/BCOLOR]

[BCOLOR=#f9f9f9]On a lighter note, GO RAMS!!!!![/BCOLOR]

The goon talk really has nothing to do with Belleville dropping ump does it? I mean your almost making them sound as bad as the old Montgomery Mafia

Callaway went USRA and their car count definitely went up this year. Dropping UMP would be a good thing as long as you get a Saturday night track to go with you. USRA has a standard set of rules for all classes and they do actually tech cars. I went to one Summer Nationals mod race and did not see anyone there to tech my car.

One important difference though is that Fulton is in the same area as other USRA tracks.

ULMA I tried to push a few years back. They are part of Lucas oil. It could work but there would have to be changes with that organization too.

Wow, some amazing comments on here as usual. Seems most think Kiefer is good for tearing up others equipment. At least they nailed that one. It is a miracle he has not gotten beaten half to death yet. He came close. Using your car as a weapon against some one in the pits, gutless, totally. Sure Al should not have went to DK pit area but if it was my son who gets run over on the track on purpose, I do the same thing. And DK wrecked them at Tri City last year also. The Moon deal, I have never seen anything like that in all my years going to the races. Retaliate by spinning Brent out on the ensuing laps but flipping a car over under caution. Who does that? Moon got what he deserved, straight up. Al will always stand up for his family and friends. Yea, I am a friend of # 13 and damn proud of it. He has helped more racers directly and indirectly than most people know.

And Kiefer suggests he is a Christian by the wrap on his car???? He couldn't drive a horse to water....C'mon man!..Now you all know why I've become an open-wheel fan!...This BS just does not happen in a Midget/Non-Wing Sprint race!!!!..My .02!..:)
Well quincy is slowly becoming an imca track alls they run is mods in ump

Actually, they have been IMCA for along time. They just switched to UMP Late Models & UMP Modifieds the last 2 or 3 years.

Everyone that got into the stands for free at bellevegas and all the drivers that got in free at I 55 a couple weeks ago not to mention prolly at least a dozen or more race cars on the track and all the extra money in the purses around here from an anonymous doner are pretty much all compliments of Al Kreke just an FYI for those of you running him down here I'm not saying that makes him above the rules but it should earn him some respect for what he does for the racing community as a whole

The bottom line is the guy has also showed his battling side and tried several times to hurt someone...but when the table's are turned and he gets hurt he is doing nothing but crying! Get over it,he wanted to play rough and that's exactly what he got! Don't come to play with the big boy's with baby dolls come to play will balls!

I'm completely on the same page about not caring about Belleville having a Summer Nationals race. I really don't see the point anymore, honestly. It used to be exciting when guys like Feger, Babb, Erb, Unzicker, Van Wormer, Sheppard, etc ran every race and it was close every year. I'd rather them drop the sanction and bring back the PhotoBilly WoO show.

As I said, Al shouldn't have gone into Keifer's pits. That being said, both he and Sam Drigger's needed to be put in their places in my opinion. I'm glad someone did it. Al has done more for this sport in the area than UMP ever thought about doing...

for all you people are complaining about the cost of a latemodel, Tires, Motors, Ect They already have a class for you its called Crate Latemodels the right motor and tires.

Dirtboy I think you missed the point in Kreke13 post. He did man up and took his punishment for going into another pits. His complaint was how inconsistent the rules are. How inconsistent the penalties are. Using a fist is one thing ( That is old school ) but using a 2300 lb race car is apparently ( new school ). Kiefer admitted he tried to hit him. Using the car as a weapon. I think you were pissing and moaning basically about this kind of stuff on another thread. Are you the pot or the kettle ? Kermits post shows this mans passion for the local racing. He does tons of stuff to help the drivers, fans and promoters. Look at how many cars have Kreke Power House on them. He is keeping drivers out there that may not be able to afford racing anymore. You lose sponsors of the tracks and cars then there is no racing. If you are at Tri-City tonight we can continue this conversation then . Look me up. I will be at the C4 Sportsman. This car owner and fan of racing appreciates everything he does for racing. One more thing. With you being the HOT HEAD you are would you shrug it off if someone flipped your kid on the track on a yellow? Would you shrug it off if someone bonzied your kid on the track not once but several times ? How many times would you allow this before you would do the same ? Look forward to your response tonight. Yes I am an Allen Kreke supporter. Cause NO ONE ELSE in this area supports the local tracks and the drivers like he does........... He gives money UMP takes it .........

Don, in your comments you mention guys calling you about having the UMP membership to race, you tell them yes, then you see they go to other UMP tracks and race anyway. You call out UMP on this but is that really UMP's fault, or is the track promoter at the other UMP track at fault for allowing guys to race without it? That kind of goes both ways, and I am more inclined to think the promoter of the track has the responsibility for enforcing the membership rule to allow people to race at their track. UMP needs to be policing the promoters on that one, though.

Personally I think any restrictions like paid membership that exclude people from racing at your track are not good for you. Sure, everyone should have to follow the rules, and only members should get points and prizes, but forbidding people to race unless they are members when they don't care about that stuff, well, that's the sanction trying to make money, not really in the promoter's interest.

As far as people supporting a track financially with sponsorship, etc, and then racing there too, regardless of how fair or unbiased a person may be, there will still be the perception of favoritism in any decision regarding that person. Your main sponsor gets in a fight, you ban him for a month, half the people say that's unfair, he's a great guy, you're punishing the wrong guy, the other guy started it, etc. and the other half say "only a month?!!??" If I did that, you'd throw me out for a year!!!

No matter what, there will be accusations of either favoritism toward the person who helps you, or animosity and malice toward everyone else who doesn't. It's always a tough call when it's someone you rely on for friendship and financial support. You mention that in recent decisions you think UMP has gone too far. In fairness, is that the same standard you apply to everyone, or is your own personal bias playing into your perception that UMP is out of line here? If the same actions were taken against your worst enemy at the track, the people you care for least who come to your track, would you still think UMP was out of line? Would you comment? Would it play into your thinking about letting UMP go? Would you even care one way or the other?

Personally, I think UMP is probably an outdated organization and some individual smaller tracks locally could band together and do their own deal and make it work. For the bigger tracks though, they have to think about what the consequences might be regarding the WoO shows, Lucas Oil, and Summer Nationals. UMP in and of itself may not be of much use to the support class racer, but many promoters need all those other big shows to survive and make some money, and if they dump UMP, there may be some unintended consequences and backlash from other sanctions. I would certainly think WoO would have issues with a track dumping UMP, and that would be both Sprints and LM shows they could lose in addition to the Summer Nationals.

Food for thought.

I think you missed the point.

If you are going to mob someone you better be ready for them to retaliate with all means necessary. So expecting a guy with his kids to stand up and fight against a group of guys is plain dumb. You all are saying a guy is a coward for using his car as a weapon, I think you're a coward if you have to make it a 5 on 1 fight (or however many were in the group).

I'm with dirt boy on this one, you want to bring a group of guys at me I'll take it to the next level.

And for the record, I'm not a kiefer fan when it comes to his driving. He's always been a nice guy when I've talked with him but I don't race against him either.

One last thing, I completely appreciate what Al does for the sport. He is no doubt a great supporter. And I respect the fact that he is taking his punishment. Doesn't put him above the law though.

Let's all have a fun and safe weekend of racing!
