Before We Begin Again In 08:

one question with a 9 inch wouldn't you have to cut them down to fit under a ministock (to wide?) if not the 9 is cheaper and easeir to find gears (more selection) than the 8 inch..

I will personnally have to say that the truck Marty Boyer raced was teched several times at Doe Run Raceway and was found to be LEGAL every time. Marty's truck was one of the best handling trucks or cars around. As far as Wolf being a rookie that Marty passed for the win that is one of the caziest things I have heard and he was counting laps to make his come back. I will have to agree with some of Marty's rule with the exception of vaccumn rule and wheel width. And yes I have been involved with the RAMS to see different rules that have been allowed over the years. The 9" rearend rule is one that I have tried to get put into the rules for years and it has been turned down until MCS rules allowed it. We have had other DRR legal cars/ trucks come to MCS and be very competitive or win features. This statement just goes back to show that big horsepower does bot always insure that a win is going to be easy. Our car counts in this area are low due to 2 tracks racing minis on Fridays or we would have 15-18 cars running on lesser rules. As long as The Rock continues to race minis I personnally believe that this is only hurting the class in general. NO one wants to build a mini when their are only 6-8 of them at a track. Another statement was that the mini stocks are a beginner class, NO , they are are supposed to be an economical/ inexpensive class of 4 cylinders. No I don't race one and I will try everything to save this class and try to see that it is here for years to come. The minis teach a driver to be smooth due to lack of horsepower and helps them whenever they decide to move up a class.........Sorry about the book and nonproper paragraphs.....

I was refering to myself as a rookie

not sure about the 9 inch but i used the 8 inch fit right in

The plug that I am refering to is the ones that can be put in an automatic trans. pan to make for easier draining the next time. That 2" plug was a disater just waiting to happen. The scope that we have will fit thru a 3/8 to 1/2 inch hole and the problem with going thru the existing oil pan drain hole is some pans have baffles and the oil that drips on the end of scope. The reason for the inspection hole is to make sure it is a STEEL rod and not aluminum. The 9" will more than likely have to be cut down for width but the advantage of finding used gears are far more able to be found. Not a neccesity but ease in changing and finding gears. The mini stock will always have a special place in my heart and I encourage anyone to drive one so they can learn to be smooth. And yes I try to get back into one any chance I can whether it be to race it or just hotlaps.

If you guys really want to win and make it even. If this what it is all i about i can help!!!!

We can all go to a pawn shop and buy some trophys really cheap, Cover the front plate with any color duck tape you would like and write #1 and your name real nice on it in permenent marker on the front!!!

We won't have to have any rules (unless someone wants to pick it apart) and everyone will win!!!

Aren't i freakin smart?

The trophy thing sounds fun we should try it on one of our rainouts this year. It will be the only way I get a trophy this year.

I could be wrong but I don't think anyone is talking about winning on this thread. After 166 post I may have lost track but the general theme was to keep costs down so it is still a low budget class. I think everyone wins when you can go out and compete each weekend on a fairly tight budget.

I think that is just about it on this subject!

Well it looks official::rolleyes:

We had some conversations with Mel and it looks as though the MCS rules for Mini Stock from 07 will stand for 08.
He said he talked to the fans and is trying to give them what they want.
They told him that it was just a Ford show and that was boring to them so they leave before we come out to race.
They also said that we were slow and un-exciting to watch, so he has allowed us to step our cars to make it more interesting to the fans.
Lets face it folks, he is in the entertainment business after all.
You must give the paying fans what they want or they won't get into it at all.

SO:

If you choose to run MCS beware of the Ultra High Horse Power Mini's.
The only thing else I can say is maybe the other tracks should try to adopt the MCS rules.
I do think the show was better to watch this year at MCS, but I did not make it to any of the other tracks to look at the class to see what they looked like so I can't say that one was any better than the other.
I am sure the Mini's put on a good show wherever they go, but that is just my opinion.
I think it will be fun to see how we all do this year.
I have decided to run at MCS with the team so we can begin to build the cars around the MCS rules package and just not be able to travel to other tracks.
I think Fulton may join with MCS and adopt the class and the current rules for a Friday night show, so we can go there if we choose to travel a bit further to race.

What ever the outcome of the coming year, we can all look back and debate how it came down in the winter of 08.
Only time will tell if the powers that be were right to do what they did.
In the mean time, I have much work to do.

ONLY A FEW MONTHS BEFORE WE TEST AND TUNE AGAIN!

I have an appointment with a chassis dyno to see what we can do for 08

I wanna see more "Hooter Girls"
in the stands. If these rules will
bring 'em, I'm o.k. with it.

Was it the same fans that want a 2.3 Ford in the s-10's??

Mcs Fans?

Hell Jon:

I an not sure what fans he was talking about, (didn't know we had any)but I know from the stands you can't see the power plant!
I used to have fun on the street with a guy that had a Ford Maverick.
That car was stupid fast and we ran each other many times when we saw each other on the street.
It wasn't until later that we stopped to talk and the thing had a 468" Big Block Chevy in it with a Power Glide bolted to the back of it.

From the stands things my not be what they seem!

Are we havin fun yet?:)

Fans

In reality the fans have nothing to do with it, thats just his way of passing the buck for his decision. Maybe....... i can get the fans to get me some help for my Ford modified? surely the fans get tired of seeing the chevy win that all the time? right?

that is passing the buck... Shoot as a fan I'd love to pay my $10 bucks and watch Sprints, Late Models, and A Mods, shoot through in some usac to go along with it. How about 1/2 priced food also... I enjoy each level of racing for what it is. and that just doesn't seem like a smart choice. If that was the case wouldn't he have UMP LM's instead of crates...nothing against the crates because i like them...but heck if i can get the most bang for my buck! You'd think if he wanted an opinion he'd ask the drivers that show up at his track every week what they want...

Well good luck to you budget racers up there...

minis

let mel run the ministock first like 2 yrs ago, they warmed up the crowd, and after intermission they let people know racing was starting up again. then people can stay and watch the other classes.

Yeah so get this i addressed the issue to some of the kids at school about the mini's to see what they thought and they said the only reason that they stay in the stands 1/2 the time is because they know there will be a wreck, and they just like watching us wreck.
But if you remember when late models where last in the show they didnt have to many stay for them ethier. i do remember that. I think PART of it is because we are last.
I think the mini's should do more fun stuff like always and be more involved with the crowd hell they love it!

This is very true! I remember the night you got your nick name, let me tell you the kids were at the fence. LOL!;):D Just funin with ya.

Well see if we get fast enough we can run with the street stocks. That will help there car count also. See a win! win! Think positive people! Now that is entertainment! I can here it now on the radio
Saturday! Saturday! Saturday!Come see the 4 cyl. mini stocks battle the V8 street stocks! It's no longer a ford verse chevy, Now it's 4 cyl. verse V8. Come watch the madness!:D

Spec Motors?

I have said this many times, no spec motor, spec tires are the way to go if you really want to keep costs down. Mandate a set of tires that will only allow a certain amount of horsepower to go to the track, the tires will last longer since they would most likely be harder. If I can find a class that runs a reasonable spec tire I will surely go there, if everyone is on the same crappy tire, then it does not matter how much money you spend under the hood, there will be a point it becomes futile since you wont be able to put the extra power down. Whenever you have more traction than power, it becomes a follow the leader event or as we like to call it, karting, a race car should never be able to "flat foot" around the track, thats not racing. Lastly, if you have over 15 grand in a ministock, what is wrong with you? Move up a class and race your price range. I love minis and the affordability that used to go with them. If you have to outspend to out run, think about it, you might not be very good at this and thats great, Im not very good at this but then again I am only in the everlasting pursuit of cheap thrills and this still makes me grin win or lose.

Aww, Tony think you for that recognition, it's just my best moment..... LOL. But i would love to hear that on the radio someday sounds good, but we all know that if we do that then people will still biotch about how this is a beginners class and how if we want to run a V8 then we need to move up, but it is a idea, lol.
in 06 for the mechanics race they put us out there with the street stocks and Todd was driving my old truck and a street stock spun out in front of him and hit head on and screwed the front end of that truck up, but atleast ya are thinkin about the class and making it better!
I still think we need to be more involved with the crowd!!!!!!!
