For those wanting more Tri-City info, here you go!

sean2 you need to check your facts Todd is not the fastrak midwest director and i too have looked at the records i do not know racer85 and i am in no way bashing anyone but i have to agree with todd and art about the records now with that said having raced at several tracks in my time where the class that i raced in was dropped yes it really ****s but that is life we just went to another track and raced or we moved to another class i hope that the crates do flourish at granite

gosh.. walk away from the computer for several hours, and look what happens.haahaa. my point is this; racer85 said in a prior post.. something to the effect that with 28 sportsmans not at tcs anymore, leaves room for 28 crates to show up every week. might have a word wrong here or there, but that was the statement. whether it was 9,10,11,14,15-19(depending on which statistic you wanna ignore) cars showing up at tcs or pir, where are the 28 cars gonna come from? my statement was with a poor car count, i don't see how a class can survive at any facility for long. if 28 cars/class wasn't working out, then how is a class that brought a low of 11 to a high of 19 gonna survive? i'm certainly not a math major, but these numbers don't add up. as far as your post earlier racer85, i don't see your name in the results in most of the weeks listed. that is why i say you weren't there.i suppose you could have been a spectator, though.best of luck to your group.thanks.

I hate to jump in the middle of someone elses argument but I think the point that racer85 is trying to make is there were 10 crate cars the first nite at PIR but there was one nite at the end of the year that they had 29 cars for $400 to win. That is three times what they had at the begining of the first year of CARS, hopefully the will continually grow at that rate. You guys gotta remeber that this was the first year for the cars series and it was a building year. I don't wanna give a number but there should be plenty of CARS to go around next year. I really hope that alot of you sportsman guys take a good look at the crate series for next year, the standardized rules will give you guys the ability to travel or race for a national points fund with other crates on a level playing feild, not umps open sportsman platform.

New cars ARE being built each day for the C.A.R.S. Series. With the way things are progressing I forsee that many cars also. Who really cares about how many times someone was here or there, I mean in the realm of things thats ignorant!! It's a true statement to say that the C.A.R.S. series has been successful to date and that their is more excitement and growth for crate racing than I've seen for Sportsman. I do enjoy watching Sportsman races though so dont make me anymore of a sportsman basher than you already have.

Todd, we have had no negitive feeling toward each other but you'r stirring the pot! Be better than that.

I am kind of bias on this situation b/c i have raced a sportsman for the past 8 years. I truely hope that the CARS do have a good turn out for next year. I know i have heard of several people that are going to be building one for next year. From the sounds of it they should have plenty of CARS late models but only time will tell the truth. I myself can't figure out though out of 5 classes of cars at Tri City how it was that the sportsmans were the ones to get the boot. It is kind of unfortunate b/c i know of about 6 people or more that were planning on making Tri City there new home track in 07'. Me being one of them but i sold all my stuff and from the sounds of this that may have been one of the best things that i would have done. When i do return in 08' though it will not be in a sportsman car. Either these Crate cars better impress me alot or we will be Modified bound in 08'. Good luck to all in 07'.

G Graber, How is Todd stirring the pot if his facts are indeed acurate...WHO cares...A crate is a crate whether is is from one organisation or the other???? All they have to do is change tires and move from one track to the other...
WE get it you all are racing next year.... MOVE on !!! We're going, too!!!
OH, by the way have they come up with a FORD crate yet!!!!!
You ought to feel for the sportsman guys that are going to have to go and pick up their awards at the TCS banquet from a promoter that tossed them aside like yesterdays newspaper......
Now thats food for thought, cause if ya'll can't deliver the goods next year. The shoes just might be on the other feet.

ENOUGH ALREADY WE GET IT...............

well i have a few thoughts. I guess all that really matters is it doesnt look like I will be going to Tri City at all this year, since they arent racing sportsmans and their SN race is on a friday so I'll be racing somewhere else.

As far as switching from sportsmans to crates, I think it was a bad idea but it really wasnt my decision. I would be very surprised if they even can average 20 cars through out the season. I guess we can sum all this up by how there was about 20 guys on here last year saying they were gonna race crates at brownstown last season and there was like 5 or 6 there i think.

And as far as what I think of the cars, they are way more expensive than a sportsman. Show me how much it would cost for the upper and lower a frames, spindles, ball joints, and rack for a LM, and I bet it is at least 3 times what it would be for all the spares for a sportsman, or a mod for that matter. how much stuff can you get from Auto Zone and get a lifetime warranty on? lol and like somebody said they can get their spares cheap from a friend, thats nice for him but the average joe cant do that.

The only other problem, and it really isnt a problem, but the way racing is. It is no different than Busch and the big sportsman show at pevely, but at the big crate shows usually the super late guys will show up and win most of the money. a look at the fall nationals race at granite shows that.

plus i hear they wreck a lot

Jimmy, I understand you are biased so I see where your opinion comes from but there will be 20 cars weekly, they dont crash anymore than any other class but they do have closer racing than most, and upper a frames are the same price from mods up, lowers are cheaper for lates, spindles are stronger so you wont replace as often as metrics and pintos resulting in money savings, so I still say there is not as much difference as you think. oh by the way, I was a Manager at Autozone so I do know that you'll be doing alot more labor changing those bent tie rods and ball joints while mine stay straight.

Whats the payout for all the classes at TCS on 07,even the crates, will it be worth it for them to show if another track will pay out more,Will tcs take the sportsman payout and combine it with the UMP payout from 06 to pack em in?

It's kinda funny both crate organization's ignore the question about when is there is going to be a ford crate!!!!

No, I truly welcome Ford into the area. I think it would only make our class stronger as I have some friends who are Die- Hard Ford guys who will run Ford and Ford only. I would even consider running a ford if the circumstances where right with sponsorships or other things.

On another note, upon thinking about the whole situation over the last few days, I truly understand where the Sportsman guys are coming from with not having a track to race and the thought of Why us? I feel that you guys do have something to offer and should probably try to get a few special shows set at Granite for next season. I think my stink was with running the crates down for the benefit of something else. I hope you guys see through this and maybe it the comming seasons decide that you would like to be a part of it. We would love to have you and guarantee you would have a great time. I would be more than happy to help anyone who needs any info on what it takes to run whether that be monetary or equipment.

In regards to todds deal, I just think that maybe he jumped on board because of personal vendettas with other posters. I like Todd, He's always been nice to me but I believe he's hurting himself.

I don't get how I am stirring the pot by posting the real car counts either, but getting flamed by CARS VP Sean Franklin and his best buddy Ed Pursell is nothing new. It happens so often that I have come to expect it from the CARS guys.

To respond to the other point raised: I no longer represent any crate series, as I informed Stan Lester at Fastrak that I would not be promoting the Fastrak Midwest Region in 2007 at the end of October.

I would also like to clear up one other thing; I was never on the payroll of Fastrak. I ran the Midwest Region Touring Series Late Models as an independent promoter in 2006.

As far as Ford, Stormpay.com allows a Ford engine in. I think it costs $8,000, but I am not sure because I am not shopping for one. My opinion is that it is not a good idea, because it is a superior engine to the 602 and 604, it costs $3000 more, and if it wins races consistently (and I believe it will), the well funded crate teams will buy it and the poor boys with 602s will be left behind, thereby introducing escalating cost into the series and making it impossible to keep the competition level. Both defeat the original goals of crate racing, in my opinion.

T-nie and midget racer,

To show both of you I can be a bigger man. I will tell you what I will do. Next year when my work allows me to race on friday night and I go to TCS. I will personally purchase each of you grandstand tickets and leave them at the gate. That way all this hooplah about my results and car counts wont take place next year. And you can come out and watch some good racing.

And as for being best buddy's with Sean you are correct and I have to say I am honored to call him a friend.

thank you , mr pursell, for your kind offer. however, i will only be going to tri-city maybe on the few times open wheeled cars are on the card.(this does not include the mods, as i consider them stock cars). again, i thank you for the offer, and, although some of the statements by your group are kind of arrogant and "stand-offish" (by that i mean by blowing your own horn as much as you have, you are setting yourselves up for the critics to have a field day at your expense)thanks again, and i wish the crate series well. art.

Crash, and the rest of you non crate believers are refusing to see the logical picture! I will guarantee 3 things. Number 1 is that there will definately not be any fans lost, for every one fan sportsmen had, the crates will have 2. Number 2 is that I guarantee there will be a full field of crate cars everyweek! I'm not talking 16 ,stretch to fill. I'm talking 25 or more. And number 3 is Brian, you may have $1800 in your car but I guarantee most of the front runners other than you have more than we do in our crate. Crates are up and comming, sportsmen are a dying breed, no cheaper than modified because it is a modified only with fenders!

is what your saying.... People should put fenders on their modifieds and call them crates...?

It looks like my point has been made then. This all started because these people started to insult crates and were very insentive also. But, when the tide has changed you guys don't like it do you. So don't belittle crates and I wont belittle sportsman.

don't look any one belittled anyone in that quote, looks like facts to me and sounds like you dont' like them, but don't get mad at me, i like racing and I have seen many changes over the years, but I will wait till the season is over(2007) and let you know about the season, As far at TCS, I thin the racing program this year was fantastic, the racing was great, and I look forward to next year, but I think I will go to jacksonville and watch the latemodels(not grate) and enjoy the sprints too. ...

Ok now lets hear the bashing, I made a few comments .

I wouldn't bash the crates or the tracks that run them. There is a place for crates, it's unfortunate that it cost the Sportsman at TC. Face it the Super lates are getting expensive. The price is forcing a lot of guys out of the sport. Without a lot of money backing you are going to be an also ran. For a lot of guys this is fine. Others are spending more to get to the front. Engine costs have gone up, I bet there aren't many of the supers with $5,000 motors.

Crates cut the cost of engine "development", thus cutting overall costs. Yes guys will be spending more elsewhere. Which may not be a bad idea. Some guys are in over their head with the power in their motors.

so far there have been only about 4 comments that have made any sense, and this is one of them. Read the first paragraph.

especially the part about the super lates getting expensive. Well then for the long.................................. run, wouldn't it have been better to eliminate the super late models, because of expense and keep the sportman, but oh wait, there is one more point that some people are not looking at, at TCS, jimmy deering drives a CARS late model, so now he has a home track to race at. not knocking jimmy, i think he did a great job driving this year, and I really didn't know he could race that well until I saw him race. So I will give the crates a chance, I think they did a great job at greenville, and the few times that CARS raced at tri city, they did a good job, I'm not a sportsman driver, not a car owner, not a car sponsor , not a car. Just a tired old worn out official that has seen a lot of changes, sometimes, I said sometimes, Changes are good.
