Now Jack this statement isn't exactly true. In 2004 every rule was read out loud by the RAMS president and compared to the year before then every voted. Don't act like it was something sneaky.

So it was announced that this rule was being removed before we voted? It really does not matter, it needs to be replaced or we will become latemodle ministocks. That is all from me on this thread.

Worry about your own class

DO YOU REALLY WANT THIS?
I am not sure Joe wants this any more than any of the rest of us.
17 cars the other night was awesome. 3 or 4 would be as boring as the creat late model class. The race would be over in 3 minuets without any action...
confused:
May I respectfully suggest you worry about the state of your own class before you hack on other classes. Do I enjoy watching all types of racing "yes" do I prefer certain types "yes" do I get on the internet and call what others enjoy watching boring "no". Trust me If your class ran last the stands would empty just like it does for the crates.

I beg to differ

The RAMS have ran last and the stands were still at least 3/4 full when they ran. I think the RAMS put on just as good of show as the rest, if not better. JMO:D

Joe,
I did some digging in the RAMS archives and found a couple of items that we were looking for.
First in the 2004 RAMS rules, there was a section at the end of the rules that somehow did not get reprinted. It was listed under "Important Notice". I think what happened was when they reprinted the rules the next year they just tried to pulled these items into the main body of the rules, but some parts got left out.
For instance rule #1 was "When you buy an exisiting vehicle the points accumulated DO NOT stay with the vehicle. Wow I can buy a existing vehicle and get the points now!!!! just how cool is that!!!!!

Rule #2 was about substituting another vehicle.Wow now I can have any body drive for my points cool man you guy made it so easy to cheat now on points... any body could buy a championship in the rams... Rule #3 stated in you run a RAMS Points Series event, ALL RAMS rules and regulations must be followed. (I bet that was taken out because of Doe Run).neat now at events like SFCR it's run what you bring whoo hooo lookey at all the grey areas now
Rule #4 talked about Fighting Will Not Be Tolerated. And then came RULE #5!

"Anything not specified in these rules must be stock from the manufacturer. The track director and race officials will strive to implement rules fairly and equally among all participants."

Oh and Rule #6 - IGNORANCE OF THE RULES IS NO EXCUSE!

Then in the January 17th, 2004 minutes of the RAMS meeting, following the discussion of rules that had been "redefined," it states:

President Jeff Mills stressed Rule #5 under important notes: which reads "Anything not specified in these rules must be stock from the manufacturer."

That's my reasoning for this discussion. I'll be forwarding these to Butch.

my take on this whole thing (like it matters) anybody who know me know I'll say what I think right or wrong so here it goes.....
Thats the reason I used the Ford rearend because it was cheaper. I could of gone out and bought new ones and paid someone to put them in so instead I used the one we had sitting around the shop , it had the right gears , it was free , it was legal to the rules , and if I need to change gears it will be alot cheaper so what is so wrong with what I did. It only makes sence. There has been people complaining to Mel not just on here. I have been working hard on my truck trying to get the handeling set up. I have been making little changes here and there it has nothing to do with a Ford rear end. There is no one bending the rules or playing stupid (it is legal)
if you don't mind me asking what did the rear come out of that just fit into a chevy with no mods? also you even stated it had the right gears now all the other chevy guy will have to spend more $$$ to get the right gearing.... I guess your using 5x5 wheels on your s-10 if not you had the axels drilled? whait didn't a s-10 have 5x4.34? like a camaro.....

if these rule was left out on porpose you guys have open this class up to pure insanity on being able to find grey areas and bend the rules
my personal opion is it has gone to far now a poor man can't race with you guys... when this class first started it was cage it race it anybody could have one on any giving night but the last year I race it wasone of these guys going to win (wolf JPR SHANNON RICK ) nothing agiast these guys I'm freinds with them all but you ask them they had more than a $250 dollar rebuilds in there motors... did they do there home work yes did they cheat NO was it cheap for them to race NO this clas was supposed to be cheap fun like the hornet wannabes but there is no more cheap fun racing you got to pay $$$$ to play (win) guy we are going down a very dangerous road right now
we keep going we will be a who got's the most $$$ wins and thats all
I think we have already arivved there....

smurf

By the way Jim is running a ford 8" out of a 72 mustang. Its 58" wide just have to move the leaf spring pads, making it perfect for a S-10. I bought it for $75.00 (off Stlracing classifieds matter of fact) some time ago, and he paid $75.00 to have the axles re drilled (Thank you Tri-Sun) when he wanted a gearing change. I already had a Chevy S-10 rearend set with 4:56 that cost way more then $150.00(Ill send you the receipts) just for the gears let alone when I was done paying someone to set it up because I don't do gears.
You know its way more competitive this year then last, so if this is the result of pricing the class out of existence that's OK with me. At least we don't have the same two winners every week, and have a good car count. So what really is the *****ing here about????????

No disrespect intended

I didnt mean to say anything bad about the rams or the show they put on I enjoy the rams. I didnt mean to say empty but people leave before the last class to beat traffic, ect as they would for almost any class that ran last. The only way to keep the stands full would be to run the supers last and that isnt even a option anymore. My other post was for Uncle Ed's original post calling our class boring. I did not intend to disrespect the rams. Have a great week. Sorry for the off topic reply.

Because it"s chepper?

If my brouther ,nefue friend or Grandmouther gives me a quick change 3rd. member , that"s cheap . Doe"S that make it leagel??

If the rules say nothing about it then yes it would be legal and cheap!

Hold On!!!

I don't mean to be disrespectful, but the last time they ran the rams last at MCS was because no one was in the stands for the late Models, and some people from Weber Chevolet (I guess they sponser the late models) were coming. The weekend before about 1/4 or less of the stands were filled when the late models came out.

Lets not make this into

Lets not make this into a Crate/ ministock/ etc. etc. debate. The fan base for the ministocks have been growing by leaps and bounds the past 2 years becouse of the bike giveaways, extremely close racing, and the competiveness of the class. Remember this, the first year the ministocks ran at MCS, there wasnt a whole lot of people that watched them race. With the crates being new, it will take a bit for the fan base to grow. As far as the drivers of the class, they have some top notch drivers and are just as friendly as can be. So with that being said, back to the other complaining :D .

LOL, Butch great point.
And now the other, upsidedown I was answering Smurf's questions, and could care less about your smart as$ comment concerning and I quote "brouther ,nefue friend or Grandmouther" and who gave who what. That has no effect and anything, anyone and everyone can run the same rearend so lets eliminate your innuendo now. And step up the the plate put the quick change in and go for it instead of just whining and *****ing. I have a 2000 Masterbuilt with a nice QC that I was eyeing already, just to damn wide though.

Just to clear things up

I know both Mike and Uncle Ed and what they are trying to say is that if we keep alowing everyone to stretch the rules there will only be a hand full of cars left in this class like the crates at this time. And I know they like the crates and our intentions are to be in that class hear soon. So to let everyone know they are NOT disrespecting the crates. They think highly of them and we look forward to running in this class soon.

We are fortunate to have the car count we do have. If we are not careful we would allow things to get out of hand and people would not be able to afford the class and be competitive. There for car count would go down and cost us our fan base.

So in the off season there needs to be some rule clearifications. And that will put a end to all this mess. It should eliminate the playing stupid to how the rule is procieved.

Just to let you all know, I am considering letting someone in this class that I sponsor use the spare 9 inch floater rear end that I have! Your rules on this are so ridiculous that this has to be legal also! The rule states only that it can be locked and nothing else, so lets run the price up on this as far as possible. And if you really want to get ignorant, check out rule #6 about the cylinder heads, you can read whatever you want into that also. All I can say is, Let The Games Begin!!!
