K, I read as much as I could as far as comments on here to see what everyone had to say. But my eyes started hurtin I read the article, and do not agree at ALL. WHAT A LOAD OF SH!T!!! It goes from talking about noise, dust, fireworks (PLEASE!!! WHAT ABOUT THE 4TH OF JULY!!!) but noticed it turned into a BS deal about city officials getting raises. Looks to me they will get a "bonus" if they succed in closing the track? Maybe wrong, maybe right... not sure...
Regardless, one of our tracks is literly right on the edge of town, have ran past 11pm several times, but the town loves it! To them, it's all about revenue. Since the races only take place on Friday nights, once in a while other days if it's a special show, no one has an issue. There is a sound wall in place facing the road/town that considerably limits the excessive noise, as well as dust when the wind blows in from crazy angles. Simple solution to a big issue. Now, in Springfiel Illinois was, WAS one of the greatest tracks in the state, Shahanes. Anyone remember? We (entire family) lived in the city and couldnt wait for the races to start. When we couldnt go, we all would sit and listen to the LOUD SPEAKERS for who was doing what. Even our neighbors who didn't even like racing, would sit with us. Turns out, they started to like them, us telling who we knew and how they did, then they started to go with us. Then old man Shahane died, his family took it over, sold it as commercial ground, and is now one of the largest sites in the city. See where the love went, dam back stabbin family, CITY AND CITY OFFICIALS will do anything to get rich quick!!! Point in this...
