Granite City residents & Tri-City

K, I read as much as I could as far as comments on here to see what everyone had to say. But my eyes started hurtin :D I read the article, and do not agree at ALL. WHAT A LOAD OF SH!T!!! It goes from talking about noise, dust, fireworks (PLEASE!!! WHAT ABOUT THE 4TH OF JULY!!!) but noticed it turned into a BS deal about city officials getting raises. Looks to me they will get a "bonus" if they succed in closing the track? Maybe wrong, maybe right... not sure...

Regardless, one of our tracks is literly right on the edge of town, have ran past 11pm several times, but the town loves it! To them, it's all about revenue. Since the races only take place on Friday nights, once in a while other days if it's a special show, no one has an issue. There is a sound wall in place facing the road/town that considerably limits the excessive noise, as well as dust when the wind blows in from crazy angles. Simple solution to a big issue. Now, in Springfiel Illinois was, WAS one of the greatest tracks in the state, Shahanes. Anyone remember? We (entire family) lived in the city and couldnt wait for the races to start. When we couldnt go, we all would sit and listen to the LOUD SPEAKERS for who was doing what. Even our neighbors who didn't even like racing, would sit with us. Turns out, they started to like them, us telling who we knew and how they did, then they started to go with us. Then old man Shahane died, his family took it over, sold it as commercial ground, and is now one of the largest sites in the city. See where the love went, dam back stabbin family, CITY AND CITY OFFICIALS will do anything to get rich quick!!! Point in this...

FIGHT FOR WHAT YOU LOVE! NEVER SAY NEVER, GIVE UP, OR GIVE IN THE "THE MAN" Dam right I will sign! He11, I'll show up to support if I have to. Granite is one of our family tracks, and I will fight to keep it going....

KICK 'EM IN THE BALLS KEVIN AND CREW!!!!

From the racin' Taylors (Matt, Dick, Guy, Bob, etc...), John Beck, Brian Dively, and all the others I have supported and turned wrenches for....

You all read what Kevin said " There is no problem for at least for a few more years" so let this die before you get it out of control and the wrong people start doing something about it. What are you doing? Trying to get it closed? Let it die.

tri-city

don't know why they have a problem with a little dust and noise. i'd be more worried about the damage the refiners are doing to your lungs and brain.when i lived down there my step daughter had to have daily breathing treatments.after moving to the country, with in 3 months she hasn't had 1. it's been over 10 yrs.

Thank you Revin

Thank you for your post regarding the 20 year agreement that you have with Pontoon Beach. I think it's time for this post to die out. WE all know that Tri-City is a top notch track and see the improvements that have been made and the improvements that are in the works. I have been around racing all my life. We made the circuit every weekend to area tracks as racers and as fans. Belle-Clair, Pevely, Tri-City, Godfrey, and back in the day Lakehill. 2 of those tracks are now gone. I see Tri-City in operation for many years to come. The dedication that you and Tammy have put into your track for racers and their family as well as the fans is something that you should be very proud of. Tri-City is a legacy for future generations.

When it comes to the EPA, from which I understand is the party that could get involved, they don't care about where the city limits are, or if the party making the complaint lives in the same city as the facility. If they live next to it, and the EPA determines that the track is a health and environmental hazard, they can shut it down. And the residents in Granite City that live next to the track can always contact the County Sherriff's department, and make complaints. This isn't just going to go away because the track sits in Pontoon Beach, and they have an annexation agreement. I wish all the luck to the Gundakers and the track, but be prepared for a long hassel.
