JYI new management

Andy no offense takin'. I agree this sport is going to cost you money. The closer you want to be up front the more it's going to cost. I think JYI should stay with the open tire rule. All I'm saying is two tracks running different rules divides racers instead of combining them.

As far as the other post about 2 wide racing at JYI and not at Bedrock. I think you are comparing apples to oranges, not alot of two wide racing at Martinsville compared to Bristol.

It's hard to get two wide kart racing anywhere. I've seen two fast grooves at Coulterville the last few times I've been there. It sure can make the racing interesting. It definitely gives you an option if your kart is not handling well in one groove. However, I don't think a one groove track makes for bad racing either. I'm sure there are a lot of people who would agree there were some very exciting races this year at Bedrock, which is definitely a one groove track.

As far as donations from Burris Racing, there was an awful lot of money in gift certificates given out at the Bedrock banquet along with some tires and wheels. I'm not saying I like the Burris tire either, but the money sure don't go to the track owner. Burris has a marketing strategy to help them sell tires and corner certain markets, they aren't in it to make track owners rich.

I applaud Rodney for asking racers thoughts on how to make the track better. He understands what it takes/costs to run a track and wants to make JYI a better place. Everyone needs to support our local kart tracks because we don't have that many.

P.S. Did I say I like JYI just the way it is!

Justin

Jyi

I would like to say thanks to Jay & Jo Ann and thier family for a great year. The track was excellent, and so was the racing.
So why aren't they running it this year? They seemed very dedicated to JYI and I thught were ready to come back and do it all again next year.
And what are the tracks plans for races NEXT year? Are they sticking with karting or are there plans to run other types of races on our kart track ??? Important questions I think!

Mike

From what I heard they are also going to be running 4 wheelers on the track also. You are correct in saying Jay and Jo Ann did and excellent job this year and I would like to say thanks for that. JYI has always been a good track to run and hopefully continue moving forward.

We would like to run every other weekend. Nobody wants to be stuck there every weekend. Steve Nace is interested in running few times. Hot shoot will be on turn 2 exit on turn 1. We would like to make track 14 driver 9-10 second lap 3 groove wide. 100% pay back entry fee alot of tech. Prep-cut-torch-stomp-kick-piss on tires all you want

It is a shame to see and excellent track go to only racing ever other weekend. You do have a lot of racers that do like to run there ever week. I am one of them, but who am I.

I was just wondering who "we" were? It just seems to me that a lot of time has now been wasted asking for what others thought when it seems the decision was already made as far as what would be done at JYI. I thought that racing at JYI was enjoyment for the sport, I didn't realize it was a chore to be "stuck" doing.

I was wondering, will the track also be running 4 wheelers on it? If so, how will that affect the track for the karts? I would think that it would make the track rough. This past year we ran alot there and thought the track was GREAT, we wouldn't change a thing. :D Jay and Jo Ann (and family) did a wonderful job with the track and always friendly. It's nice to see a track that has more than 1 groove, well taken care of, and pleasant people. Why would Nace want to run or help run karts? or is he wanting to run 4 wheelers? He never kept up with posting the scores for karts or end of year trophies at DeQuoin last winter why the interest now?

Jyi

So we dont get STUCK racing every week !!!
Sounds like karts are just being pushed aside for 4-wheeler racing. Now the truth comes out!!!
We look forward to racing, YES, every week! If you only like racing once in a while, go try a couple bikathons here and there!
If its a nice way of saying we want to race 4-wheelers every other week, just say that!
Some of us actually look forward to running every week.
And 100% payback sounds great until the track goes broke, or do they plan on selling $10 hot dogs, good luck with that.

Mike

Old management walk off-Nace is running twice and if anybody wants to run the track call me! You people are amazing! Most of you dont have clue on what it takes to run a track!

That is a great Idea for a track to run only twice a month! There is your cost cut for the locals!

Nobody wants to get stuck running every week for the point championship or for the most part because u can't run anywhere else.

As far as tires who cares what they do the fast guys will be fast anyway!

If they made it a Burris 33s at least u would know what to run! there is no guessing on what tire to run. That is how the cost could b cut a little, and if u prep your tires right u wouldn't have to buy new tires every month so do your math.
What r u going to do when u r all on Maxxis cause u think they r so much faster and someone shows up and wears your asses out on Vegas? well now u have to spend more money!

* for the record at Tunica last year a guy won the SUPER HEAVY class on Burris 33s:eek: so do your home work. This is one of the biggest race there r!

Here is another idea for those that don't know!
Do u know how much work goes into a Maxxis to b fast at JY1 Im not talking about winning i'm talking about being fast! If anybody fast shows up at JY1 it's game off for u guys that don't have a clue!;)

With Burris u just have to show up and they r ready! so I tell u what keep being ignorant see how u run.

I think its to everyones benefit to run 33s only!

Burris 33's won 2 classes that I know of at the Boogieman this past weekend. We got beat in stock medium by Burris tires and we were on HT3's.

Wow

Gee Ben its called Decaf you are officially banned from Starbucks for a week.:) :D

I heard about the boogieman when the sun went down and the temp dropped out it was time to put on some soft Burris. I dont think this would have been the case in a day race or in the middle of Summer. But I guess I might be one of those who dont know or dont have a clue so I could be wrong.

Sorry my openion is I should be able to run what ever tire I want but that is my openion. Hey lets take this one step farther and lets all run the same chassis and run a sealed motor like the wazoom.

So the $1200 worth of gift certificates, 2 new right side tires, and rims that were passed out at the points banquet went to Bedrock?

Funny, I thought we got to keep them, Frank I'll return mine this week. :D

toby frank called need those gift certificates and tires back, something about needing new motor for the 57

I know everyone has been wondering what has been going on, and i am here to tell all of you that the managment did not walk off they were basiclly pushed off.

I know everyone has been wondering what is going on with JYI, and i am here to tell you that the managment did not just walk off, they were basically pushed off. I scored at the track all year and Jay and Joann loved doing this and they loved all of the people. But next year they are going to run 4-wheelers on the track that all of the go-kart people built, and all it is going to do is tear up the track, and all of the work was bacillaly going to be pushed off an Jay and Joann. And from my understanding Rodney wanted to run the track any way. All the 4-wheelers will do is tear up the track and it is sad to see such a nice track be torn up like that, that we put such hard work into all year. I just wanted every one to know that Jay and Joann were pushed out and they did not just walk off. They are not the kind of people to just leave the track like that, they are the nicest people i have ever met. I know many people appreciated what Jay and Joann did for the track, and i am shure that a few of you wont be back next year. And Rodney i hope youdont treat the racers like you do your employees.
