Medley's win??

I like Troy but if he was illegal then he should be punished, whatever the rules call for, loosing points for all season, one night, whatever. I am sure Troy will take whatever decision is given and handle it gracefully.

rydog you are right its not I never said it was. however you statement did not lead to anyone to believe you meaning a outsider racing there. It sounded like you were referring to your car when you said if it were us there'd be no question about it..
also im sure it wil get worked out and something will be done about it
 
i know there is no excuse for cheating but when medley hit the wall at benton earlier this year they got to the track at like 6pm the next nite. if they had to pull the frame it could have been an oversite on thier part.
 
Let me clairfy something...Just because someone is illegal doesn't necessarily mean they are trying to "cheat", could be an honest oversite but then again maybe not. Who knows? BUT there are rules.

As for the car that was illegal the week before. I just know he wasn't a front runner or anyone who was in the points chase. He was one of the random checks of someone out of the top 10.
 
Did you get a car number? or was it one from Montgomery? Didn't they have some problems a few weeks ago with cars being illegal?
 
I hope allied gets this right. I build a few engines in this class and we have had major points taken away for alot less than an inch. I don't believe I will support this class any more if they don't do something. Rules are rules. We lost rookie of the year by virture of loosing our points for the year over .002 of an inch. Therefore an entire inch should bring a similar point deduction. I did not check the deck height in relation to the top of the piston. Did not mean to cheat, but was illegal, so we took our punishment like men. We *****ed alot and the drank lots of beer. I don't consider Medley a cheater, anymore than we were. Just got to keep everybody honest and be fair about what you do when there is an infraction!
 
I was told today that The left side was an inch short, but the right side was an inch and a half too long. Don.t know that for a fact. They are supposed to make the decision tonight.

WHO KNOWS???? THE MEASUREMENT I SEEN ON THE RIGHT WAS AROUND 107 1/4. DEFINITELY NOT 108 OR LONGER. MAYBE THEY GOT IT BACKWARDS.

HE'S NOT GOING TO LOSE ALL HIS POINTS, I DON'T THINK.
 
They decided that Saturday night. What was to be decided last night was the penalty. That decision was made, if you want to know more ask Troy or an official.
 
Was his car teched at the beg of the year for the wheel base? Has any of these cars been checked for the wheel base this year? I would like to see the track check these guys at the beg of the year like they do at the nationals. My favorite is when they feature is over and they tell all the cars to stay on the front straight and then tear them down. :) No one can do anything that is shady before tech gets to them because the whole world is watching. :) That needs to be done several times a year.... And I can't imagine that there are to many race cars that are 100 percent legal from bolt to bolt and bumper to bumper. :rolleyes: :D :D
 
I'm sure all UMP will do is re-adjust the finish from I-55 for last week and give points accordingly.

What about UMP points?





Last Year Another Racer Who Was Up Front Was Caught Illegal. All Ump Did Was Not Give Him That Nights Points. He Kept The Rest His Previous Points.
 
This is what I received in an email, don't know if it is true or not.

"Both sides were to short. 107 1/4 and 107 1/2 on the other I think. But they were both less than 108."

400 points taken away seems a little harsh for a car that has ran all year and was damaged a few weeks ago. I guess this will make a lot of people keep a check on their cars a little better. Their are a lot of rules that are vague. Like the crankshaft rule? I know a lot of cars that have lighter cranks in them than the rule states. I guess checking crankshafts would be hard to do, but they need to clarify the rule a little better. Also the rules on the rods are not followed very well. When the front runners spend seven or eight thousand dollars on their engines, It's for more goodies than we could afford. I guess the old saying (Money = speed, how fast do you want to go) is true.
 
Well yes they should check more stuff such as cranks and rods you are right but as for us #50 we have $1,200.00 in our motor and we are a front runner.
 
i am not an allied competitor(but i do play one on tv,heehee),but it seems to me, if you are sure that one of your competitors is running lightened/illegal crank and/or con rods, i would consider a protest and teardown.if you don't,then it seems you are not sure, and just blowing smoke. it would seem to be an e-z way to beat them, because they just beat themselves.not trying to be a smart a**,just saying it as i see it. again, i am not an allied competitor, so i don't care who does what.as far as the statement earlier about the car being crashed(and hence the possible reason for the wheelbase being not to min specs),if it wasn't crashed that night,then it had a chance to be taken home and repaired, then that is no excuse.

Who builds your motors or do you do it yourself? I'd be interested in a $1,200 motor......:) I have one on order and its going to be roughly twice that for a short block and I thought that was a good deal compared to others!!
