Awww so it really is not a $1200.00 motor then.... It's a more expensive one but you get them for this price. So for someone to build a motor comparative to yours it would cost alot more huh !!!! Guess we wont be getting a discount

I'm Not Sure Exactly What Kent Has In His Motor Dollar Wise. But, I Can Assure You Its Not The Most High Dollar Piece There. Probably 4 Or 5 At Least With More High Buck Stuff.

I Know Of Nobody Running 9 Grand Motors In The Sportsman At Pevely. Who Is? Do You Know?
As Far As What They Spend And Win, Its The Same In The Mods And Late Models Too. Competitive Mods Most Spend 15+ Thousand On Motors To Win $500???? Winning Lm's Spending Well Over 20 To Win $1200. Welcome To Local Racing!

Mullins is around $9k for an Allied Motor......that is what he told me when I talked to him on the phone right after mine blew..... I don't know how much Herzog spent, but he has one of the "new" Mullins motors.....Since Mullins told me about $9k, I can assume that is close to his......
There is no secret to how much a motor costs....all you have to do is call a builder and ask them, if you sound interested they will tell you, the only secret apparently is, if the driver gets a deal from the builder....
The big difference in the Mods and Late Models spending that much on a motor to me is, they have a better chance (more bigger money shows) of making most of that money back.....Thats just my opinion though...

WOW....WOW..... I WOULD NEVER PAY THAT. NOT FOR AN ALLIED MOTOR. IN MY OPINION, YOU DON'T HAVE TO. SOUNDS LIKE OVER KILL.
I dunno Andy, if money were no object, or I could justify it, I would buy one of his in a heart beat......If you've ever been to his shop, you'll know he is extremely serious about what he does, and it shows on the track......No one can take away the success Herzog had this year, he had three feature wins in his rookie year, and one was a big money show......he was also a factor a lot of times at Pevely.....his car is a rocket out of the corners and the speed at the end of the straights is very fast.......he was good before the new motor, but I see a huge difference in him after he got it......
I cannot afford to spend that on a motor, I wish I could, but I can pretty much bet that I operate on about half the money as most guys in the top 10 (probably why I finished 11th....), but I'm still having a blast! As everyone knows, its a sick sport, you can spend as much as you want, but you can only be as good as your equipment, I'm trying to do a whole lot with a little (not a whole little, but a little...).

Well, If Engine Builders Are Gonna Charge 9 G's For Allied Motors, Maybe Allied Needs To Go To A Crate Engine.

it just doesn't make sense to spend that kind of money on an engine, then probably a grand or more to freshen it halfway into the season, for (i'm guessing) $200 to win the main. but, on the other hand, if you are in this business to make money, then you are in the wrong business. crates are good, but the local crate lm series has somewhat of a dark cloud cast upon it, for 'authorized' engine rebuilds. so, that is not a guarantee of engines being tampered with.
