Presidential Race - Are We United?

I’ve changed my mind, what there is of it.

I'm voting Democrat because I'm way too
irresponsible to own a gun, and I know that my local police
are all I need to protect me from murderers and thieves.

I'm voting Democrat because I love the fact that I can
now marry whatever I want. I've decided to marry my
horse.

I'm voting Democrat because I believe oil
companies' profits of 4% on a gallon of gas are obscene
but the government taxing the same gallon of gas at 15%
isn't.

I'm voting Democrat because I believe the government will do a better job of spending the money I earn than I would.

I'm voting Democrat because Freedom of Speech is fine
as long as nobody is offended by it.

I'm voting Democrat because when we pull out of Iraq trust that the bad guys will stop what they're doing because they now think we're good people.

I'm voting Democrat because I believe that people who can't tell us if it will rain on Friday CAN tell us that the polar ice caps will melt away in ten years if I
don't start driving a Prius.

I'm voting Democrat because I'm not concerned about the slaughter of millions of babies so long as we keep all death row inmates alive.

I'm voting Democrat because I believe that business should not be allowed to make profits for themselves. They need to break even and give the rest away to the government for redistribution as THEY see fit.

I'm voting Democrat because I believe liberal judges need to rewrite the Constitution every few days to suit some fringe kooks who would NEVER get their agendas past the
voters.

I’m voting Democrat because I believe they will nominate at least three Supreme Court Judges and they can interpret in such ways to make it useless.

I'm voting Democrat because my head is so firmly planted up my rear end it's unlikely that I'll ever have another point of view.

Interesting let me see employment steady around 5%, interest rate 1%, average income rising every year these are bad things.

Greed is bad, wait for the fatherland to give you whatever you need.

It's pretty naive to think the U.S. has no exports except weapons.
 
The latest national unemployment figure is 6.1% from the US Bureau of Labor Statistics. Don't know where you got 5% from.

You will probably see a marginal drop in unemployment between now and Christmas, with Thanksgiving thrown in, as companies hire seasonal workers. Then it will go back up again in January. Also, I don't think there will be anywhere near as many seasonal workers hired this year, with consumer spending contracting.

Interest rate at 1%? It just got cut because the economy is tanking and they are trying to prevent a recession. So maybe you think that is a good thing, but in reality, it isn't. It's a sign of bad times when the interest rate hits rock bottom, and it also means they don't have a whole lot of room left to use it as a tool. The cut was because banks and other financial institutions couldn't afford to borrow at the higher rate.

As far as average income, that can be wildly misleading. Economists never use average income as an indicator, instead using median, to gauge what the majority are earning. Average income is a great tool for deception, because all it takes is a small minority earning incredible amounts to swing that figure significantly upward.

That just goes to show how it is possible to point to something like an interest rate or an unemployment drop at a certain time of the year, or using an inappropriate statistic to paint the picture that things are better than they really are.

Incomes have been flat to negitive in real terms for several years now, that is unless you are in that top 10% bracket, and in that case you have seen a hugh rise.

This whole trickle down theory has been nothing but Robin Hood in reverse, it has taken money form the bottom and redistributed it to the top.

Now Mcsame doesn't feel like that is re-distribution of the wealth but to move money from the top to the bottom is, go figure.

Try and make the case that oil companies only make 4% profit on a gallon of gas on those numbers. Consumption dropped, and they made a record profit. If they only make 4%, wouldn't a drop in consumption also mean a drop in profit? And by the way, when Exxon and Mobil merged in 1999, they projected sustained $2.3 billion yearly profits from 2002 onwards. Now they make $14 billion in a quarter, equivalent to $50 billion or more a year.

So we went to war to give them independence and freedom to self-govern, but we should not let them self-govern and run their own country? What happened to that core Republican value of taking responsibility for yourself? Does that principle end at the American border? I think getting out by 2011 sounds like a GREAT idea. Let them be responsible for themselves.

In 8 years, he has done nothing to overturn Roe v Wade, and in 6 of those years he had control of Congress. While executions have risen, nothing has been done about Roe v Wade. The Republicans are killing more people alright. War in Iraq, executions in our prisons, and babies still being slaughtered.

Raise taxes / Cut taxes? Which would you prefer? Well of course we would all say less, is more in our pockets!
During an Econmic Crisis, which is what we are in right now, you CAN NOT raise taxes. So cutting taxes makes no sense either! Also, how can you cut taxes on 95% of the 60% that do pay taxes? Where is the money going to come from for all of his give-a-ways, plans and programs?

Obama "NEW DEAL" means a tax increase on-
income taxes! (on all wages)
capital gains taxes! (retirement accounts/ home sales)
inheritance taxes (on every one)
cooperate taxes ( the us is already second in the world )

Hoover an Roosevelt did the same thing by raising taxes, that only hindered and delayed the recovery of the "Great Depression" Is this the reason Wall Street is wavering?

As far as the 700 billion dollar bailout..If governement spending could get us out of a recession, we sure wouldn't be in on NOW!
Obama has proposed all sorts of new spending programs. Getting the money from his new tax plan is only going to take resources away from the private sector, thats you and me!

So who does this help? the bottom 40 who do not pay any taxes, which means more services for them!
A side note .....
I know alot of you are against the war however. Barney Frank "GOOD OLE" Barney has annouced that he wants to push for a cut in military spending by 25%. Do what? The US is waged in 2 wars.. That would be like cutting the throat of our military and leave us wide open for an attack.

You would be much better off if you could discuss a subject, this or any other, that comes up without losing your cool. I was just having fun with you at first, I thought we were civililized, but you get hot if anyone brings up something you don't agree to. I think it's time to realize, in my opinion you could be a danger to our country, especially when you say you don't mind getting rid of our outdated constitution. This is possibly not my thoughts alone. The world over, there are people who would die if they could achieve half the benefits our constitution gives. You could better yourself with some counseling for your temper. Don't mean to be acting like a counselor. I won't be posting in response to your rants after this because it would serve no purpose and I don't wish to be responsible for you having a stroke. If you think I'm running away, I'm not; I feel my arguments are equal to yours any day. There is no changing a single detail of how you believe. I am sorry I upset you. It isn’t life or death!
