Fred isn't all that bad, he just likes to yank people's chains. (kind of like you. *lol*) While I myself have ripped him more than once, and though I've never met him allot of people consider him to be a good 'ole boy...just a bit warped. :D

His point is a valid one...lots of Japanese cars are being built on American soil, and allot of the American cars and trucks have tons of outsourced parts in them, some are even built outside this country. And to address what armoflu posted, after shopping around, the Japanese cars are getting close to costing the same as the American ones. And that's the second time I've heard someone ripping someone's salary. (Racing90 ripping the lineman for their salary in one of the Ameren threads.) You get what you can and what the company will pay. Baseball players make millions...are you saying you would turn it down? Being jealous or saying someone doesn't deserve to make a certain salary just isn't right. You take what the market will bear. Personally I think some bad decisions are to blame for the high cost of American cars...like paying workers 90% of their salary when they're laid off, and has less to do with their actual salaries. At least the workers, the CEO's and corporate bigwigs are another story. But once again they make what the company or stockholders are willing to pay them.) I believe that although the gap in quality has closed in recent years, it's still no contest. (yes there are always exceptions to the rule.) You can blame the workers, or blame the engineers. Or the executives that want them to wear out so you have to buy a new one faster. And yes big guy, I will buy whatever I want....looking like Saturn is the winner this time. All of the above is JMHO so... whatever.;) Peace out Champ! :D
 
there is something not readily known here. the camry and accord are american assembled... not really american made. the difference being that the japs pay alot less in shipping individual parts over here than complete cars. it costs them less in duty fees than they pay americans to assemble the cars. all the parts are still made overseas.. just assembled here. big difference that they dont want you to know... they just put a different spin on the words american made. this is a fact, folks.. look it up.
 
an american racing sport needs to have only american made products. (parts and vehicles) I am so glad chevy took the top 4 spots at Daytona and actually toyota was no where close, i just wish at every race, someone would just put that car into the way on the first lap.

Are the U.S. Toyota plants union? do they pay what GM, Ford pay? If so why? why not? Union guys speak up! Are Toyota workers inspired to do a better job of assembly?
 
so know we see it's union non union deal seems theepole working at honda and toyota are happy and secure something to think about besides all this doesn't mean a hill of bean to nascar it's done deal and was discussed years you guys are a day late and dollar short

If you're concerned about "American" built, or union loyalty, not to worry. Tacomas are built in USA, in a UAW plant, by UAW workers! 75%+ American-made content as well, which qualifies it officially by the government as an American Vehicle.

Toyota Motor Corp. gave workers at its largest U.S. plant bonuses of $6,000 to $8,000, boosting the average pay at the Georgetown, KY, plant to the equivalent of $30 an hour. That compares with a $27 hourly average for UAW workers, most of whom did not receive profit-sharing checks last year.

Honda Motor Co. and Nissan Motor Co. are not far behind Toyota and UAW pay levels.

I believe the reason foreign auto maker came over here to assemble there cars is to avoid paying an import tax assesed by our government that way they could sell there junk at a cheaper price than we can jmo

Not rippin the auto workers you MORON and you are the joke! Jealous of their job or life? Get real! I wouldn't want to insult my auto worker buddies by talking money but jealous, ROTFLMAO! You indirectly buy my product like it or not Jap's be dxmned! And I do buy what I want in almost 50 years I've owned over a hundred and somthing cars and not one of the a Jap piece of crap and only one Ford and one Dodge all the rest GM baby!
