So many negative comments... Those of you who think Shepps is wrong or have no business holding a 410 show there, your worse then this dam MESS series. Shepps has every right to run what ever, when ever, and WHO EVER decides to show up. Sounds like the guy the runs the MESS needs to have a big look into his future with this sport. It's not like there aint several more tracks that run 410's or any other "supporting" class. What would he do if a sportsman, 4 banger, mod, or whatever class he has with them ran there to... and in the MESS series... bet he didn;t call them and tell them NOT to run there... I have alot more I could say on this and not in a nice way, so if someone with your negative crap wants to bring it... well....BRING IT ON!!!! PM me and we'll discuss it. Those who support MESS need their heads examined for this crap...

As for Shepps... GIVE EM ALL YA GOT!!! It is the most professional thing I have seen for a track owner/promoter come on ANY forum for ANY event and appologize for a low car count!!! That is some major brownie points in my book!!! Race ahead of you, not behind...
 
To steve and Stevie sheppard, i wish i could have been there to race, i still don't have my engine, i wish u would have had more cars, and i can honestly believe that guy webb might have possiblly done that( not saying he did but i can see him saying that. You guys prepared the track well for the sprints and i will be there to support you next time if you decide to race the sprints again. Good luck to you guys and the rest of the racers in 2009, i wish i could have been part of the first sprint car race at shepps.

99% of the people on here are bashing Guy Webb, not Shepps speedway. I hope Shepps has another show sometime in the near future. I would like to come up and watch.
 
Thumbs up for Shepps speedway, thumbs down for Webb antics. EVERY driver that runs one of his races should take a long hard look at whats been going on here. You drivers have allowed yourselves to be pushed right out of your own area to race because of Webb and his bad dealings. Not 1 track from the 1st year is on the schedule this year, that tells you something right there. Really there is not a solid schedule for the series at all. Surely you drivers can see this bull and realize he is doing NOTHING to help you or any track. We as fans can help make a statement, the drivers that support him and his constant line of bull can also help themselves by simply NOT SUPPORTING his races. By supporting him you are helping him lock YOU out of YOUR home tracks. Wake up guys before it's too late. I agree with the other people on here, from this point on I will NOT support him or anyone that has anything to do with this man.

The more I read about him, the more ridiculous him and his antics are. I still can't believe the drivers support and condone this kind of behavior. I never understood why Jacksonville dropped the winged cars, now I know. I miss the winged shows at Jacksonville, Mt. Vernon, GraniteCity, Pevely, SpoonRiver and a few other places that no longer run the 410 winged cars. If this continues on, we won't have any 410 winged racing in Mo. or IL. Don't let this happen.

Jacksonville's promoters still owe money to the MASS series from 2006. Farmington has been stying to bust up the MASS series for a couple of years now, without any success. Racers deserve to get paid a decent purse...and that's why they race with the series. How long would it be if they were just going to be "outlaw" racers before all races in the area paid a fraction of what a MASS race pays? That's what was killing 410 winged sprint car racing in the area before the MASS series started.

I don't know what schedule your looking at for the MASS that shows 25 races. The only races on their schedule that appear on the tracks schedule are TN, IN & 1 Quincy race date. I counted 11 dates on the schedule that appear on the MASS schedule & track's schedule. There is CO-Sanctioned outlaw race at Pevely, MO. I would think that most the drivers would want to race closer to home whenever they can since you have a 5 hour drive or more with almost every race on the schedule. I would really hope dirtfan1 is not a MASS respersentative since he stated in an earlier post "the vast majority of quality Illinois sprint car racers set their collective and individual value far higher than what this rogue promoter paid a few rogue racers to sell their pride" a few of those so called rogue racers that sold their pride are MASS regulars such as Aj Bruns, Jordan Goldsberry & Kody Kinser. I think these drivers made a wise decision to race & support this local track especially since there wouldn't be much racing for them if they only race the MASS races.

You are right on! Those shows you miss, I miss them as well. And when did they stop running these shows? About 3 years ago. Im completely fed up and if everyone doesnt stick together on this issue he will never leave. Im going to do whatever I can to help bring back more 410 sprints around here. Even if it means not going to any of his races. They maybe small but thats all I can do. I hope more people and drivers do the same!

It seems to me that deals like this race at Shepps Speedway is what is hurting 410 winged sprint car racing...any self-respecting racer should have taken a pass on this "event". Maybe the promoter should have booked a Sprint Invaders 360 race if he couldn't afford a decent purse for 410s.

lilracer1, you me and a bunch of people feel the same way so you are not the only one. After Sunday night and being very upset what happened I think this is great that so many people are rallying together on this issue. To me its pretty clear we are done with his series as fans. They drew the line in the sand with the drivers and now us fans have drew the line in the sand ourselves that we are done with this stuff and his series!
 
I personally would like to see Shepps dig deep in there pockets and add the 410 winged sprints to the show this Sunday night up against the MESS series race at Quincy! Looks like Guy Webb has 2 usernames on STL:D
 
I will continue to support Shepp's,as I have for three out of the first four weeks!(Sorry I wasn't four-for-four,but I wish it could have been) I am happy to have a track so close to home and a promoter that is trying to give us a good race no matter what kind of car is on the track. JMO If anyone saw the effort of the crew and the race when the NALMS series was there, than you definately believe in Shepp's.
 
Hopefully Shepp's will try another 410 race again this year. I'm sure it will be met with the same resistance by the same person as this time. I still can't believe these DRIVERS allowed this to happen. At some point they will surely get tired of his antics and realize he is hurting the drivers, tracks and fans.
 
I hope the drivers do one day see what is happening and that they control it. Granted I dont follow the series closely, I only know of one driver so far who got fed up with Guy and his "rules" and left the series. Also the drivers of the MESS are treated fairly decent from what i've heard. Decent payouts, and tow money for the drivers also.

i agree! it is great to see the fans going against Guy Webb. He has basically ruined sprints for good unless somebody stands up and starts another Sprint series. And if i had the backing and a little more money i would definatly do it.


maybe the anti webb fans can pitch in some money and start one someday lol

as many people as hes pissed off so far we could have a hell of a fund for the sprint drivers hahaha

The point I'm trying to get across is the DRIVERS have to quit supporting the very thing that is running them out of their home area. As long as the drivers show up at the next MESS show, they are more or less supporting the actions of the MESS series owner. If that's what the drivers want, then let them do it. Fans can only do so much, at some point the drivers have to help themselves. I will bet the same drivers that witnessed what happened at Shepps will be the same drivers supporting the MESS series on Sunday night. That's fine if that's what they want, it is a free America. When they're left with NOTHING but Webbs BS, I will say "told you so"!

Sorry but with NO-sama"bama" that does NO LONGER apply here... Anywhere in the United States of Obama. You wouldn't believe all this num nut is doing to this nation. Time to move to Iraq... Mexico, Cuba... etc. etc...
