united states of america=freedom

tell guy webb where to go and race where you wish. If you all ******* guy webb he will have no racers for his controlled series

freedom...freedom...freedom...

Are you freakin' stupid or what?

If racers want to race for $1200 to win, let them go ahead. But, please explain to me why the Midwest All Stars should continue to pay $2000 to win if racers set their value so much lower.

its not about value dumbass.
there value must not be very good because MESS Series barely runs

they all had a chance to run local, and didnt take it, so i agree.

the drivers that stick with Guy Webb are ruining it for everybody.

Guy wont have a series if all these fans stick together and dont support him. it's not the drivers that make all the series. you have to have fans in the stands too

The whole thing that webb did is CRAP! What should have been done is to realize this is a brand new track and it needs to build a fan base, He could have easily said here let me help you guys get started and we'll run this show for $1200 to win and then next time $1500 and so on till the track could afford the $2000 to win show! Work together eew what a concept!!!!

I'm quite sure the Sheppards have had a real eye opener, it is very hard to make ends meet with an established track much less a new one! I wish them the best of luck!!! In this business there are names you work with and you find out the ones you don't real fast!!!

Again, I ask, "why should the Midwest All Star Series pay $2000 to win and the extra overall purse if racers are willing to race for considerably less?

Racers can choose to race anywhere they want, but, like anything else, there are consequences to consider.

Say what you want about the owner of the series, but, he owns a raceteam, takes financial risk in promoting races, finacially helps those racers that are loyal to him and his series and works to insure his racers race for decent money.

Before the Midwest All Star Series was founded, 410 winged sprint car racing was dying a slow, painful death. Racers would be racing for even less than they do now, and several more teams would have quit, had things continued to deteriorate. Have any of you ever thought that these tracks which don't have 410 winged racing anymore couldn't afford this kind of racing, quite possibly because they are poor promoters who can't sell tickets and fewer racers inhabited the area because they couldn't afford to race for next-to-nothing?

What have ANY of you done to further the cause of 410 winged sprint car racing in the area? Go ahead and organize your little ******* protests...and a dozen of you "fans" don't go and you won't be missed. Quincy will have a great crowd, just like they did last year...racers will show up and life goes on.

If you ask me...it's the few of you who have an ax to grind and relish in your spiteful behavior here and and other message boards...who are truly the "selfish" ones.

Anyone wanting to see a good sprint show Sunday can easily skip the MASS show and instead head to California Mo (Double X Speedway) for the 360 Winged Outlaw Warrior show or Haubstadt for the non winged MSCS show. We'll be making Farmington Saturday night then head east or west to Double X or Haubstadt depending on the weather for one of these Sunday shows. We've chosen to pass on the MASS show.

Here are a few facts for the fans and drivers in this area. Since the inception of the union of drivers called the Mess series, we as 410 fans and drivers have LOST the Herb Barlow race, Shaheens race, Knowles Memorial, All Mo/IL speedweek races, all 410 winged local shows at Pevely and GraniteCity, Sprint specials at Mt. Vernon, Belleville, a WEEKLY track at Jacksonville, and now maybe a potential track with Shepps Speedway. That's pretty alarming I'd say. So if the MESS series is growing the sport aroound here, you have to ask yourself, in what direction? The handful of drivers that support the series must now tow thousands more miles each year for small tow money, and still racing for no better start money. The schedule, if you want to call it that, is an utter joke. And believe me, Webb is NO promoter of the year either, so don't go there about promoters.

Bonehead

Guy Webb is this you? Of course it is. I don't know anyone else on the planet that could think like this.:mad:

Here's a FACT...The Midwest All Star Series offered a NO SANCTION FEE event to Sheps if they would be willing to pay a normal Midwest All Stars purse, including $2000 to win. The track refused. So, who is supporting the drivers and who is trying to make them race for nothing?

More FACTS...most of the races you mentioned above were already gone before the Midwest All Star Series even started. Granite City has had problems paying for the races they've run, Mt.Vernon refused to pay the full purse last year...and only by Webb paying the balance out of HIS OWN POCKET saved the track promoter there physical harm. Jacksonville simply can't afford to run 410 winged sprints...if they could, they could have a non-sanctioned show but anybody with any brains wouldn't race for such a small purse and no guarentee it would even be paid in full.

Hey, all of you are so damn smart...why don't you all scrape your pennies together and take out a third mortgage on your trailer homes or get a new loan on your Ford Galaxies and start up a fans race...sell the idea to a track, raise the purse, pay the cars to show up, pay for the officials, figure out your rules, format and so on and see what you can do. I'm sure Sheps or Mt.Vernon or Spoon River or Jacksonville would love to promote it.

You could call it the Barlow/Knowles/Screw Webb/Outlaw Scab Classic. Until then, just STFU.

being from ohio and being from a racing family i can tell you guy webb is nothing but trouble.the racers need to be careful as he often writes checks that will bounce or they are post dated .he has been sued by more than one company for non-payment. the all stars have failed to schedule dates as they have in the past because of his business practices. now he has this series racing for 2000 to win when the all stars race for more.our weekly shows here pay 2200 and 2500 to win and then we have a point fund for the fast series that was started by a group of motivated fans that will pay out at the end of the year.

So, let me get this straight...your griping about the Midwest All Stars ONLY paying $2000 to win in Illinois because your tracks in OHIO pay $2200-2500???? Here in Illinois, $2000 is more than some of these dumbass promoters are willing, or able, to pay. Hence, the schedule is lighter here than the would be liked. It's also easy for some of these promoters to badmouth the series as a reason for their own financial problems, far beyond booking a race with the series.

Prove your claims on bounced checks...with FACTS...not a bunch of heresay third or fourth hand. You want to charge the man on here...then bring forth factual evidence. Otherwise, it's slander.

Still a bonehead

Hey Guy, It's been done before and was more successful than you might think. Do you really expect those who have sprint cars to sit around and hope that you might schedule a few races for the season. It is the end of MAY and you have ran uhh ONCE what a great deal for drivers. Fact is none of the tracks that you ran at the first season will have you back because of your tricks. And how was this good for 410 racing? Now you expect drivers to run your series only and not to support all other sprint races. If they do you will give them a little tow money and if they do run elsewhere then you treat them like dirt. Is this helping 410 racing?
THAT'S ALL I GOT TO SAY BOUT THAT:cool: NUFF SAID BONEHEAD:eek:

Here in Illinois, $2000 is more than some of these dumbass promoters

This is why the MESS drivers have to tow 6 hours to race. He has no respect for other promotors. It is either his way or the highway

And what are you suggesting...lowering the purse? To what? How about guarenteeing it gets paid in full?

no i am not freaking stupid.
the way the economy is and sprint car races far and few between in the state of illinois let the sprint car drivers race where they want to race, no matter who promotes the race.jmo.............

OK, now we're getting somewhere. "If they run elsewhere, you treat them like dirt". How?, By explaining that if they set their price at $1200 to win that the series could lower it's purse accordingly? So, when guys race for $1200 they're being treated like dirt. Umm...who's treating the drivers like dirt in that scenario. Hmm...Midwest All Stars purse is considerably higher than that of rogue tracks...

No the purse has nothing to do with it. It is how you treat the promotors. You are obviously doing something to piss the promotors off to not want your series back at their track. The first year of the MESS series most of the races were ran within about 3 hours of central illinois, now they are having to take more time off work to travel 6 hours to race because you pissed off every promotor in illinois. Thanks for helping out 410 Sprints in Illinois

Drivers CAN race wherever they want, whenever they want. But why should the Midwest All Stars pay a guarenteed purse considerably in excess of what individual tracks want to pay...even in suppoded tough economic times? It's totally up to the drivers and always has been.

I think you people take these drivers for granted. You want them to race for nothing, then blame the series for killing sprint car racing because the racers can't race for nothing and the series establishes a set purse for them. Incredible.

I bet all of us together could do a hell of a lot better than Guy Webb MESS crew.

Again, I ask, "why should the Midwest All Star Series pay $2000 to win and the extra overall purse if racers are willing to race for considerably less?

Because Guy is promoting that a full field of 410 sprint cars will be there, meaning that he's planning to draw cars from a larger than local area. Doing that obviously calls for more money to bring in the non-local teams. It also helps promote the show to the locals who may not be as fast as the traveling teams.

An upstart track looking to promote a few nights of 410 racing with some local cars, shouldn't have been such a thorn in the side of Webbs promoting... The cars that would've run this "low dollar" event would have been cars from within a 2-3 hour driving range. It makes sense that they could race for $1200 to win, versus someone who lives 8-10 hours away...

What have ANY of you done to further the cause of 410 winged sprint car racing in the area?
I've patronized our local 410 track(SFCR) since 1987.

Go ahead and organize your little ******* protests...and a dozen of you "fans" don't go and you won't be missed. Quincy will have a great crowd, just like they did last year...racers will show up and life goes on.

You are presumably correct. However, if it ever happens that Guy Webb or MASS runs out of money.....remember that every fan like me that is pissed off got them there a few hundred dollars quicker!

If you ask me...it's the few of you who have an ax to grind and relish in your spiteful behavior here and and other message boards...who are truly the "selfish" ones.

No axe to grind, just think it was ****ty of Webb. And, I hope to be able to someday sit in the stands with my young son and enjoy 410 sprints at the local track like I did with my Dad. When promoter's start prying the drivers away from the local tracks to be exclusive in a series it causes the class to be dropped on the local level. Then, when the promoter calls it quits or shifts regionally, what happens to the class? No more local 410's to enjoy:rolleyes:

I sure hope it isn't SLANDER to say Guy Webb stole money from alot of fans and drivers at Belle Clair just a few years ago. I even told Webb I had my ticket and he said so what, then the next day a Ken Martin got on hoseheads and called me out. Found out after it was to late that Ken Martin is just another stooge name Guy Webb came up with.
