Belle-Clair Speedway Statement & Revised Schedule for Belle-Clair Promotions

I know I have heard this in the past but wasn't there talk about moving the st. clair county fair out to Mascoutah? Then the place just operate as a racetrack and not worry about dealing with a board of officials

dirtfan 84==please get your facts correct==scott works for the fair board==they pay him to prep the track (which I might add was multy groved tonight)and keep all us prim-a-donna racers on the right track'so to speak'

its a big week coming up for stan.im sure he will be roaming around the fair this week.would love to ask him what the real reason is behind all this.years ago we would sit up at a bar in Belleville and talk for hours about the track.hes probably going to yell me to mind my own business.but what can it hurt to ask.just seems for the past few years they have been doing everything they can to make it difficult for don to try and get him to fold.i also remember hearing about the fair moving to Mascoutah years ago.but to me this looks like outcome they wanted.and for reasons we all don't want to happen.i hope im wrong.

you a prima do

you a prim-a- donna is that what they call it

Seems to me that the tracks that can operate outside of a fair board put on some of the best and biggest shows. The privately owned tracks have more revenue to make improvements and put more towards purses. Jmo but I feel like the highland fair board just collects a paycheck from Scott without lifting a finger and Scott abides to try to keep it going and keep this sport alive. Very sorry Belleclair, I do love watching a race there from time to time. Really hope to see you back in full swing next year.
Are you kidding me about the best and biggest shows??? Bell-Vegas had a summernationls show and the World of Outlaw Late Model's in september plus the miget shows. That's some pretty big shows. I-55 is the only track in the area that has the Wolrd of Outlaw late models besides Bell-Vegas. I'm sure in time Donnie would bring the Lucas Oil boys in town. Lets hope and pray they fix this and get Belleville rocking again

is don still going to get his percentage of the concession sales these last two events? if so I would urge everybody to spend whatever they can down there.even tho that's going to be putting more than the fairboards fair share of money in there pocket.i see it as helping put some well deserved cash in dons pocket.if hes not going to get any cut these last two races I wont buy a thing.and as far as 50/50 goes.does the fairboard get the other half?if so I will not buy any of those either.

Don does not get any of the concession or beer sales. That is the problem.
Don gets the pit gate & spectator gate, out of which he has to pay rent to Belle-Clair Fairgrounds Inc. Plus he has to pay the purse, officials, track Prep, Insurance, Advertising, and I'm sure there are many more expenses involved.
The concessions except for beer sales is run by Greenfields & they give a percentage to Belle-Clair Fair Grounds Inc.
The beer sales goes entirely to Belle-Clair Fair grounds Inc.

The 50/50 goes to the drivers point fund.

The fair board is not an elected board. It is a group of investors who own shares of stock in the building & grounds.
Since Don took over they have seen their income increase considerably, and they no longer face any of the risk or headaches they faced when they ran the track.
The only connection they have to the state is being paid a stipend for holding the county fair. Which has probably been shrinking the last few years because of the states finances.

All True except i deal with Belle-Clair Fairgrounds Inc board which is all privately owned stock holders who do elect their board from fellow stock holders. add Equipment fuel and maintanance and clean up to the list plus more! There is a separate board for the st clair fair itself i believe but is made up largly of the same people stockholders. But more of them.

So what are the fairboard's plans for next year? Will they run the track themselves? Look for another promoter to lease the track to? Or let it sit idle or do something else with it?

No need to get so hostile, people are so quick to vent their anger on public forums. First I will say I am sorry for my comments. I have also talked with others who have said I can think it, but should not have posted it. I have been convinced I was wrong on both counts. I used to work for a company that did marketing/advertising research, unfortunately I thought I was seeing trends of bias. No, I don't know you Jimmy, that is a problem with internet and public forums. I'm sure we are very much on the same page. I am a rabbit defender of motor racing, former member of SEMA (and their lobbying work for the rights of old cars owners.). I have been on both sides of the crash wall, worked for track promoters and (on a club level) organized, promoted and officiated speed trials events.
Once again I'm sorry if I offended you.

Please everyone dont buy food or drink at the last two races or go to the fair . Dont suport the fair board ! They are not suporting us .

It seems crazy that the fair grounds people ran everything 4 years ago and were losing money then with all money coming in going to them that they are doing this to don,he has done a great job and will be a big loss if it doesnt open next year.two ideas i would think about is talking to surrounding businesses and see about sponsorship for track like the gas stations and the liquor store across the street.some of the sponsors on the race cars themselves that want to see racing continue at belle clair.

I think the president of the fair board needs to go to the track friday night during intermission and explain to the fans and drivers exactlly why their favorite track is just being yanked out from under them like a rug. I have many many happy memories at BCS ans would love to continue the tradition for generations down the road. Don ty for trying to give us a show worth watching, you did one hell of a job.

I would bet a big bill that will never happen lol. Can someone clarify if we can bring food and drinks in this Friday. I gathering quite a crew for this Fridays races.

Jimmy, I forgot, one other thing we are on the same page. I was a professional photographer years ago (along with my technical illustration/graphic art work). I was hired to photograph the 1968 Union/Pure Oil Performance Trials at Riverside Raceway (road track near LA, CA) and worked the 1968 NASCAR Motor Trend 500 also at Riverside among others.

Can someone clarify if we can bring food and drinks in this Friday.

I have never seen anyone searched nor have I ever seen anyone attempt to tote a cooler in, but a large purse or backpack works well.
A cooler in your car works well if you don't mind making a few trips to the parking lot between races and have pants with big enough pockets or a large waistband. Not that I would have had any personal experience with this sort of thing...lol

Heres a thought How about all drivers go aug 9 pay ur pit pass race and give ur winnings r the amount of the pit pass back to don. Don't know if that will help. But he gave us drivers a great place to race. N tried his best to keep it up n runnin. Ty Don n crew
