I wouldn't know anything about that, 4 years running a 2.5 and (knock on wood) Wheel hasn't had a stock rod break yet. :D
If Bill goes to the 2.3 Ford, will his dad(the one at the dealer) be able to get him a discount on parts?

Hmmm, good question. He might have to change to a Ford dealer (don't see it happening) and then change back after Bill moves out of the ministock. :D :D

No Millsey, I am not a member, but the man I am currently sponsoring is. I do not join any of the associations. If I did, I would go broke having to join them all.

With the people they have in charge of RAMS there will probably be no problem getting that kind of rule shoved down everybodys throat!
HUH???? What do you mean by this comment? Out of our 4 officers only 2 vote when it comes to "brand loyalty" type of stuff (that being Trashdog and Shannon). I only vote in the case of tie and LD usually doesn't vote on this stuff....she leaves it up to the drivers and crews (for the most part). The RAMS are an organization that VOTES on ALL issues and majority rules. I (unlike some) would NEVER shove anything down everybodys throat.....THEY DECIDE!!! So, I'm not real sure how you meant for this statement to read, but since I am one of those "people in charge of the RAMS" I wanted to clarify that. If the members want a say/vote in what goes on, they should ALL make an effort to make the meetings. Now, I will say that the rules meeting this year had ALOT (if not all) of members there (but so many more have joined since then).

I don't race a mini-stock, so I feel like the members should have the final say on brand loyalty or any other mechanical/parts issue....and they do!

Then the members better start showing up and take control, I have read on here more than once that people are complaining about the meetings always being in the Park Hills area but the response is that nobody from the other areas show up. Don't sound like all the members are cooperating.
Tom for someone who I thought was pretty intelligent on racing issues you're falling horribly short here. Do you realize that Crystal can't even VOTE! The entire association is set up around the membership and NOT the officers (even though the officers will always be the ones to take the blame). EVERY ISSUE that has EVER been passed into the rules, regulations and by-laws was passed AND APPROVED BY THE MEMBERS. So if you've got a problem with that then maybe you should spend a little money and become more involved. It's aweful easy to sit back in the security of the background and yell and scream foul, but it's another thing to take the bull by the horns. Get involved and go to the meetings. Every single one of them is open to the public. That kind of input would be a received a whole lot better than just ripping the association on here.

Just wanted to clarify something.....
This is the first meeting we have had in Park Hills, the last meeting was in Desloge!!! :D But in all seriousness, this will only be our second meeting in this "general area". Most of the meetings have been in Festus and DeSoto (which is what the members agreed on). Even if the meetings were farther north (which we are willing to do), the response tends to be the same this time of year. Members are busy and don't want to or don't have time to make a meeting. They are trying to enjoy their summer and they know there isn't a lot to be discussed. From what I have been told, meetings have always been an issue. People just don't want to spend a day out of their weekend to attend a meeting. Trust me, I know the feeling! I can think of a million other things I could be doing, but I have to do it and the by-laws state we must meet once a month!

My comment is more about you Millsey, I don't know what you got to do with the RAMS but you make a post that there is time for a change, and look what kind of change it would be. Its like from your mouth to a vote I guess. And am I to assume that if you don't make it to a meeting a members vote still counts? Do you have mail in ballots or something? And I admitted I did not know a whole lot about the RAMS and their rules earlier when it was pointed out to me that Doe Run and RAMS isn't excactly the same. I'm big enough to admit when I am wrong, how about the rest of you? And I don't just sit back and yell foul. I'm active in several classes and have been at many a rules meeting over the years. But like I said before, I am not going to affiliate myself with any sanctioning body, thats my decision to make and I've made it. Once again, my statement about RAMS members is to get them to show up and vote. I have had several PM's on this matter and that is why I made my comment. READ THE QUOTE! I don't know who is actually in control, but if it is the members, they need to take care of it then and not me or you! I thought that is why you have a forum for such subjects! I am obviously wrong about that too.

Okay...

Actually, at the current time, Jeff isn't even a RAMS member. So, NO, it's definitely not from his mouth to a vote!!!!! However, this has been an issue with the RAMS for a while now. I think it gets tabled and discussed and voted on EVERY YEAR!!! And, I'm sure it will be brought up in the rules meeting again this year. And, NO, a member can only vote if he/she is present at the meeting. The by-laws clearly state that. Members cannot vote by proxy!

I in no way was trying to seem hateful, I was just pointing out a few facts that you may not have known. I know I have been wrong in the past....I will admit that. And, I'm sure I'll be wrong again!

And I can assure you that the members ARE in charge, and their votes is the final say on matters!!!!

I thank you and appreciate your position. I am merely trying to get a consensus. Not much unlike Jeff's comment about there is time for a change. I too beleive there is time for a change(rules). My change and Jeff's change are two different things. Someday cicumstances might change to put me in a position to want to be involed in this class or just with Doe Run. But it has to be within my best interest to do so. Such as part sales or engine building, so that is why I voice my opinion. Respect mine and I will respect everybody elses. And if I am offending anybody I will attempt to tone down my rhetoric. That is going to be a stretch for me as you are probably already aware of! Once again read the quote, it was a call for ALL the members to vote. I am not one but I am an interested party!

off the piont here I was thinking didn't mel make the same suggestion at festus pondersa??... also some people won't show up when it comes time to vote but will complain about the rule after the fact... this is the only group I ever been around where you throw a ideal out on the table kick it around and then the Racers vote on it... heck back in the purestreet rules meeting it was gripe all year to get something changed then wait and see if the track promoter allowed it.. the racer never really got a say in the matter...
this is a great set-up they have but there is always someone to rock the boat...

like I said earlier do some reasarch on the rods (you probably done it)get all the facts (how many motor would be saved= more cars =more money for the track) ... thats what we did on the lug nut and door plate... yes they costed a racer maybe $25-$100 more butt they have a better chance in case of a wreck...

This right here is what I'm getting at. And it's one of the main reason's I brought the issue up. Shannon and I've talked about this for well over and year and it's come back up time and time again to where it would be advantageous for the RAMS (notice I didn't say Doe Run or MCS) to adopt a rule to where you could use various four-cylinder engines. By the way just to let you know in case you didn't, I did send in my check for 2005 RAMS membership so I can stay current. So yes I am a member again when LD gets the check.

One of the things I have in my possession is the #1 RAMS membership card that was ever handed out. Can you guess who signed it? LOL...

Tom

Here is how i look at matters of this sort. YOU and anyone else has the right to post suggestions/ideas on this ... YES ... this is a open forum. Granted it is better when it is presented in a kind matter  You know by doing it that way people are more willing to listen. First off, like Crystal said... Shannon and Trashdog would be the ones mainly voting/responding to this issue you have brought to our attention. Crystal cant vote and ( to be honest ) on the machanical things, i dont know anything about them so i feel it is the " driver's " right to vote yes or no on these subjects. So Tom, EVERYTHING is brought before the members now, and the members/drivers have the final say so on what they want or dont want. With Brian being a member ( but hasnt attended any of our meetings ) it would be in his/your best interest to come to one of our meetings. Bring your ideas. That is one thing SOOOOOOOOO many have bragged about with the new officers..... our meetings are now more of an open discussion time. Many that couldnt/wouldnt speak before now feel freely to speak up at these meetings. They are not total business, we have alot of fun at our meetings ... They are very informal. And i have been involved with the RAMS from day one and now as an officer i truely enjoy being a RAMS member. Im not craming for you to join down your throat at all but, WE as a group are interested in what anyone has to say. So, feel free to bring Brian and join us at one of our meetings. Crystal is doing an excellent job, Shannon has stepped up to the plate whenever he is asked to handle anything and Trashdog gets the checks and results everyweek from Mel to me, and does anything else he is needed to do at MCS. We have an AWSOME group of officers until November and then, anyone interested in running for these positions is welcome to ! But until then, Crystal is doing a great job at running our organization.............. LD :)
