Tricity rules meeting big turnout

^another reason why SportMods should be 3 link. There should be differences between the two classes besides a carb. I am happy that Kevin is giving this class a chance. This class is growing and its future is bright. I just think they need reeled in a little to make it a better class. Good luck to Tri City this year.

This car was built to run as a B mod at the beginning of the year with all brand new equipment. Brian Worley built this car and did an excellent job. This car survived the flip at Pevely as an a mod earlier this year. At the beginning of the year we won eight heat races at Doe Run, St Francis, and Benton and three features in a row at Doe Run and won at Tri City at the end of the year as a B mod. Middle way through the year we started racing as an A mod at Belleville and I55. Raced at each track six nights with a steel headed 406 way under horse powered compared to the competition , Saginaw three speed, and a nine inch rear end. The only thing we changed to run as an a mod was the carb went from a two barrel to a four barrel that's it. Out of the twelve races at these two tracks made the feature 4 times at Belleville and four times at I55. Had to run the b main at I55 twice to make it in the feature the times we didn't make the feature was a result of something breaking or that flip I had. Feel free to come and look at the motor that came out of this car from last year sitting in the shop on the engine stand don't have nothing to hide. This car is just well built and handles very well horsepower is a lot of it but you have to be able to put it on the ground and be able to drive it also. We are switching it over to an A mod this year with a quick change, bert trans, schrader valve shocks, and aluminum heads on the 406 we ran last year to start this year. Thanks Tri City for giving this class a place to race just wish we knew this a little sooner. GOOD LUCK!! CAN"T MAKE EVERYBODY HAPPY!!
so jimmy posting that u won with a crate engine was bs then

I dont race the bmod class but i have been considering it lately. I disagree with sunoco and think they should be modern 4 bar mods with a few detuning measures..like steel headed 358 with 2 barrel or crate with 4 barrel and no bearing bird cages, berts, alum heads or qc. JMO

This bmod class sure has a lot of whining and crying people associated with it.. Almost sounds like it would be too much of a hassle to deal with.

Kevin posted it was a crate that won. Someone asked who won the last race so I posted the link. I didn't say or imply it was a crate. Geez.

There's only one guy doing all the whining. IMO the rules they ran last year are the best this year to allow most everyone in the area to run. These rules allow Fulton, Montgomery, Farmington, Doe run, brownstown, highland, Quincy cars to run there and all be competitive with weight/carb breaks. Maybe in 2015 they can start reigning things in a little more but I think this is a great start. If you got 30 cars at one show last year wouldn't you stick with the same rules? Cuz I know I would. Props to Kevin and crew for giving the b-mod guys a place to race.

So in other words highland, Brownstown needs to go to open cubic inches as long as it steel headed? It doesn't matter if your setup is great your not gonna out run a 406 with a limited cubic inch rule. JMO

I like the rules that kg has set for the b-mod guys. It lets racers who don't have the money to buy a full blown a- mod set up get there base started for the A-mod class. You can get your self an up to date chassie, and learn how they work. When the racer is ready to move up to an A-mod they don't have to start from scratch. I would rather start next to a guy who knows how a 4 bar car works and only has to adjust to a little more horsepower, rather than the hole process being new to them. THR

Haha. Dont forget people. Two barrel. Well tuned 355/58 easily competetive against 406 w two barrel. Probably more driveable. Imo

I don't think the big advantage is a 406 vs. a 355 or even a crate motor. The advantage is more in the 4 bar vs. 3 link. It would help all tracks and drivers if they would be on the same page either way.

Obviously it is too late for this year, cars are already being put together to meet the posted rules. Maybe in the future, the various tracks could try a little give and take to come up with a common set of rules for the area. (This should be UMP's responsibility, by the way, not the tracks.)

It seems that the big difference between the Highland/Brownstown type cars and the Missouri type cars is the cubic inch limit and 4 bar vs. 3 link. Maybe a compromise could be met. 360 limit with 4 bar, or 3 link only with no cube limit. Or even a 360/ 3 link base package with weight penalties for 4 bars or big motors.

Something needs to be done. It kind of defeats the purpose of paying for a UMP membership when you have a Friday night track and a Saturday night track 26 miles apart that have different rules for the same class. This is part of what has just about killed the sportsman class in the area.

The B-mod class has a ton of potential, but there are some drivers who don't want to take the leap and build one until these issues are worked out (myself included.)

Good post mkoch. Too bad ump is a f*cking joke and cant establish a set of rules. Theyre the worst business entity ive ever seen basically non-existent when needed. Yea i know they know how to take all of our money and hand it out at the banquet..minus a little. Glad KG and the boys got it rolling this year props for that but lets come up with a unified set of rules between tracks. Kevin has the most racing experience so just let him decide. Jmo

Tri-City should have went with Highland's rules and set a precedent for this region. They just want to try and get more cars by letting Farmington & Callaway cars be legal.

If UMP does come up with rules next year, they will be a lot closer to Highland's rules than these.. So Tri-City will never want to come on board with those rules and so on.. Therefore you are making it even harder for UMP to go to a standard set of rules for BMODS.

Oh if you only knew what BJ's mod blew on the huff gauge at the big b mod show at Brownstown,,,,a long way from a 406,,,LOL
