Would you support a Sunday night UMP track in this area?

Then why can't it be talked about on another tread??????????????

I for one do not want to race @ TCS on Sunday. If that happens more than likely Ill run Godfrey or Highland.

Tri-city Sunday.

Any of us "old" enough to remember Sunday nights at Shaheens in Springfield, IL, can tell you that Sunday night is some of the best racing you'll find. I'm sure, Jimmy, that enough support would exist from both drivers and fans if done right. First, as you have seen, the people want to see LM's. Also, I think you would definitley have to have the track on the IL side. This way you could draw all the way from Farmer City to Mt. Vernon and over to Pevely. That includes a lot of tracks and a lot of potential fans. Starting at 3 would be suicide. I agree with the person who suggested 6. Gives plenty of time especially if you don't get crazy with too many classes. Also, make sure you get in on a couple of big shows like summernationals, Nalms, Stacker2 or Woo to get a little track recognition.
Having said all that I really don't think Tri-city is the answer. Late Models would have a terrible time negotiating the one-groove 1/4 and any driver will tell you that unless you got the big sponsors, you don't have the money to run the half every week. Maybe if the 1/4 was expanded to 1/3 and a bit steeper bank, the LM's would have a better chance at a good show.
I know my opinion and a dollar will get me a cup of coffee, but every fan should be heard on this and I hope we get a show somewhere on Sunday nights. I sure as hell miss it.

sounds good to me scrap the half and 1/quarter and go 3/8th s on sunday night

If I remember correctly, Perigo, you were there 2 nights at the most last year. Am I right? And Mav, I do beleive you did not race at all last year. Am I correct??? Not trying to an a**, I would just like to hear from the guys that race their every week to see who would consider running Sundays. And remember, It may not even be Tri-City thats running on Sundays. JMO and sorry if I upset you guys.

If or when it is sold, it will be news that is posted.
OK. In a recent meeting with an area track owner and an area track promoter it was told that kevin had purchased tri-city and would like to run sundays . ok so what that would be a good thing . what i would like to know is why when we try to talk about it on this site jimmy takes it off . ( and yes i know its his site ) just seems strange to me that we cant decide what and when we can talk about on this topic ..

ooooooooops Bet im in trouble now ... lol sorry Jimmy

HEy, i'm sure that if everyone gave tim herbst enough votes to show, he would run the sunday show at BCR (Greenville) If they got the proper sponsers and a good crowd count, Tim has said they would run UMP races. So leave him messages to encourage this idea, it would be the perfect track to do such a thing!

Well..seems that word is pretty strong this year. Everywhere i go..its been said that its a done deal..sold to Gundacker. Now..if it is..will he run it..or..tear it down for a mini mall?? Or..business prospect? And..if they do run..and goto Sundays...will Godfrey move to Saturdays..like the old days?

Sorry Jimmy..didnt mean to bump this thread up..just stating things ive heard..which are pretty reliable sources.

the only way tri city would work on sunday is to have cars on the half mile. you have a nice half mile track, fairly local and its not even being used. ofcourse you need to have rules that offer other local cars to go there also a competetive payout would help. when you have a good car count the half puts on a good show. Ive seen the half go from 30 cars to 10 to 0 over the last few years. even if tri city stays on sat. they would have a better crowd with late models and mods on the half.

With the success the track enjoyed last year, why would they want to mess up a good thing? Sure, I like watching the guys hammer-down on the half as much as the next guy, but the truth of the matter is that a weekly show would die a quick death on the big track. Ray Walsh said it himself after winning a race this year, that most of the guys were scared of the 1/2 mile. I have to agree. Tri-City's half mile hasn't had a strong weekly field in over 25 years. I think Trashdog has some pics from back then posted somewhere on this site.

I agree...for the local guys the half is tough. Last year was very successful for TCS to have the big touring series' come in and run the half. I believe they should pattern next year's program after this year's successes.

im sure more not scared drivers will come than scared drivers stay away, rule changes and eliminating classes for the half killed that show. I was there this year and seen alot more empty grandstand than there was with three classes running the half. maybe im wrong, but i recall full fields of sprints and pro stocks, mods? plus b mods and steet stock on the small track.this was during late 90s i know i was there.
