07-08 Blues thread

Besides the Blues winning last night, the hi-lite of the night had to be Kelly and Federko interviewing ol' Noel Picard. I'd love to talk to him about the old days after he's had a few in him. That is if you could understand him.:D
 
hey goon, are you old enough to remember the days when Noel played? He was as much fun on the ice as he is off. He was one tough cookie! He had a pretty mean streak in him. He also used to have a Restaraunt in Cuba, MO. (I think it was Cuba). I remember dad taking me there, but I don't remember much about it.


Also, last night was one of the best games they have played all year.

Yeah, I've been following the Blues since '69' and I remember the old guys like Picard. Noel used to get trashed and beat around on his ex at the restaraunt in Cuba. Other than that, he's one funny dude.
 
I thought the Blues had a good game against the Hawks yesterday. They had alot of good scoring chances but somehow they can't finish. I just hope they play that way against the Wings or else we'll get blown out. Look's like Legace could be out maybe for the rest of the season so Tovo will have to get it done.
 
I'd be happy if King or Janssen threw a beat down on Downey tonight. That and I'd like to see someone take Holmstrom out.:mad:
 
Well.........the Blues were officially eliminated when Colorodo won the other day. Downey wussed out against Janssen and King so hopefully one of those guy's will jump him Friday in Detroit. If you can't beat'em on the ice, beat'em into the ice.:mad:;)
 
how many power plays did they give detroit? if you are not gonna score too many goals, then don't give the powerhouses like detroit all those power plays. another undisciplined game by the blues. mistakes and sloppy play this late in the season is just inexcusable. jmo.
 
Some of the penalties against us were, WHAT PENALTY? That ref really had his head up his azz on some of those. Kariya needs to go. He cant score a goal and he takes to many hooking penalties, one of which cost us a goal.
 
I have to agree with 1stbreak on this one. Most of the penalties that were against the Blues should have never been called.

Well lets just go out there and kick some but. Nothing to lose now.
 
Thats what they should have done last night. they were getting called for nothing should have really done something so the penalty would fit the crime. Need Hinote back, he would have roused some feathers.
 
Thats what I was saying last night. I was hoping the Blues would come out in the 2nd and 3rd period and kick some butt. I was hoping that King would have kick Downey's but when they got out of the box but Downey ran like a baby. To bad King didn't go after him later in the game.

From what I hear, that officiating crew read up about the Hawks-Blues game being chippy so they clamped down on the Blues to keep the game in check. That's the 'new' stinking NHL for ya. I really miss old time hockey. At least the Hawks lost to the Jackets last night so the Blues can shut up Savard and the Hawks Saturday night with a win. I hope that game ends up being ugly.
 
yea that was great. I've never seen 2 guys get tossed in the box because the ref thought they were going to fight. As it turned out Downey didnt have any intention of getting his head knocked off. We can look at it this way, at least the Wings didnt end up with a power play out of it.
 
McCarty is in the lineup tonight for Detoilet to spice things up although that probably means Downey will sit out. Be nice if we could get an early lead to make it interesting at least.
 
Well......at least Janssen won his fight the other night. Looks like that's all the Blues can win for the rest of the season. I would like to knock the Preds out of the playoffs though.
 
I hope Maury gets smart and sets Manny for the last 3 games. After we had no chance at the playoffs Maury should have let Toivonen get some ice time. Hope Manny's injury is anything to bad I missed what happened.
