Granite City residents & Tri-City

Im with these people..I bought a house next to Lambert airport and its really starting to pi$$ me off that all these planes are flying overhead...Im thinking about taking this matter to the city council..the track has been there for awhile get over it..

Couldn't have said it better myself. The track has been there since at least the early 60's....if you didnt know the track was there when you moved by it then its your own fault. But as usual, people complain and want someone else to do something about a decision they made.

Petition to sign!!!

http://www.ipetitions.com/petition/tricityspeedway/

I normally don't post on here. However I enjoy going to the races and I don't want to see anything happen to the racetrack. So i did the deed of starting the petition. I am not very good on writing. So the statement isn't that good so any suggestions and I will change it. So if you want to see the track stay open just go and sign it. Thank You, Erin.

If this is a political gigg then feed them what they are looking for $$$$$$$$$$  Seen this with the Charlie Bowl and expect it more in the future Good Luck to all tracks !!!!!

Just because they want an 11:00 curfew doesn't necesarily mean the track is in jeopardy. Jacksonville (Morgan County) has an 11:00 curfew, and they're still racing.

How did their "Beelman" golden egg fizzle. There is concrete being hauled out of there everyday by union drivers getting paid union wages that are a lot higher than any jobs that were lost. There is also sales tax on every yard of concrete that comes out of there.

The sour grapes you still have nothing to do with the new owner, the property was for sale for a long time and someone came through to buy it.

I hated to see that track go as much as anybody but I don't blame Beelman. That would be like saying the old abandoned Clark station down your street can't be sold to Quik Trip because it was always a Clark station. With the location of Godfrey Speedway I am surprised Q.T. didn't buy it. Then you could ******* all their stations.
I wsn't taking just about the concrete company I was talking about what they have lost in sales taxes, they already had before the concrete company came along. Lets see, the restraunt across the street is closed.-no sales tax , the gas station is gone-no sales tax the bar is not as full as it use to be on a friday night- lost sales revenue. The restraunts on Godfrey road, lost revenue. You see it's just not what the the dump of a concrete company is bringing in.... it's what they lost because of the track closing......DUH

Oh!!! Not a surpise!! Has anyone else taken note of all the apts. and houses starting to surround I-55 in the last 7 years or so? First the houses up on the hill as seen coming from the south, now the apts across the interstate...Oh how long will it be.. before Kenny has to comment on a pre, or post race show about the uproar people are making?? I hope he has the sense, and political incorrectness, to tell it like it is. As a redneck from the hills, I wonder how we have become as cowardly as we have as a society. I still tell people to kiss my ***** to this day if necessary. As stupid as people are anymore, I'd love to do it more often! Has anyone else noticed that people arent as smart as they used to be? Seems like Debbie Cummins said something to that affect not so long ago..We can sit with duct tape over our mouths n whimper, or we can tear it off and shout loud enough that they'd rather hear racecars!! If someone is making it rough on you, make it twice as rough on them..

I agree, PC makes me sick!!!!

Complaints of “noise and dust” from nearby property owners… I’ve read that very same complaint before against a local dirt track.

If it comes to comes to a lawsuit, at least Tri-City Speedway’s ownership already knows an attorney that’s versed in this exact legal pleading. Well… I mean the lawyer would HAVE to reverse the argument by 180 degrees and defend against some of the VERY same complaints he launched against another dirt track.

Tri-City Speedway has a long history in the regions racing, and has had some awesome improvements done to it the last couple years. I hope it will continue to operate for years to come…. But I can’t help but see the irony in all this…. Karma is a beotch aint’ it! I just hope this little “karma smack” doesn’t end up causing the loose of another area racing facility!

I seem to remember the mayor of GC at the track on opening night talking about how great it was to have Tri City back and running as a first class operation
My how people change

Wasnt this town built around Granite City Steel , all the railroad companies, rail spurs and the industrial filth mega of the metro east. I think the EPA should have more to worry about than a little dust and noise. All I can say to her is welcome to Granite and if it is dust and noise you are worried about you might want to check your property for all the lead that has been dumped on the Granite City residents for years. You want piece and quiet move to the country because you are for sure in the wrong town.

I think that was the Pontoon Beach mayor. Pontoon Beach is all for the track.

The restraunt, gas station, & bar did not close because the race track is gone, they closed because of the highway coming thru.

I bet if you do the math the concrete company has collected more sales tax this year than the 3 businesses and the race track combined in their best year. I would bet the average truck load pays $40-50 in sales tax.

Amen!.....

This is the most ignorant thing ever. " Hey lets build a subdivison next to a racetrack " So, what if people complain, We made our money. Thats just the way some people think. money, money, money. I grew up just as Mrs. BOO did not even a mile from the track. And spent many weekends and tuesday nights ( motorcycles ) at TCS. Not only as a spectator or racer. But, also as an employee. Along with my Mother, Brothers and sister. When it was owned by Elvis Doolin and promoted by Ed Bloom. Yea, Im showing my age. Is GC gonna employee these people when they close. NOT !! Sure you could here the races sitting on your front porch. But, did people complain ? NO ! What about the folks that live right next to the track. Think about the years they have lived there. And Im sure most of them stiill do. Its your snobby high class socialites that are the problem. They probably hire someone to cut their grass so they dont break a nail. Come on GC you had your chance at that little peice of land and you blew it. just like someone else said. GC is jealous because they arent getting the tax revenue off it. KEEP TCS ALIVE KEVIN !!

I was told personally by a GC council member that they ignore the state smoking ban for bars and restaurants. Maybe the state should check that out?

tri-city

i have been to tri-city a lot of times and they have a realy good facility there and a good track but if them environmentist wACKOS DO DETERMINE THAT THE DUST IS HARMFUL TO THE PEOPLE IN GRANITE CITY/ PONTOON BEACH THEY WILL SHUT THAT PLACE DOWN.BECAUSE THE ENVIRONMENAL PROCTION AGENCY HAS THE POWER TO DO ALMOST ANYTHING THEY WANT TO DO. THAT WOULD BE A VERY SAD BUT TRUE THING TO HAPPEN BECAUSE TRI-CITY IS A GOOD PLACE TO GO RACING.
