07-08 Blues thread

We're just not getting the bounces. They're hitting posts and everything. Just can't catch a break. One thing I will say is that Legace is starting to do his flopping again. Both short handed goals he was on his butt and they put it over him. If you go back to the first games when he was hot he stayed on his skates and stood them up.

Last two games were not as crisp as they should have been. Are Ryan Johnson and Kariya the only two on this team that skate hard every shift? And what has happened to the slick diagonal passing we saw in the first Chicago game? (let alone any tape to tape passes) Jackman has flat out $ucked. Murray needs to put him on some drills to sharpen his pass receiving skills. I know Scottrade doesn't have the best ice, but this guy is supposed to be pro and he has cost us atleast two games. Sorry, I'm not a Jackman fan, he's a decent player but when you've got the likes of Brewer, and McKee you need a "great" #1 defenseman to compliment them. He hasn't been the same since he got whooped by Brad May.

Hope Murray works their tails off this week, and we see a better effort Friday.

Hey 1stbreak, I saw your group way over in the distance with the hair and all, it looked like their was several of you, when we came over that way you guys were gone, maybe next time I get to a game I will run into you all.

As far as the games go, nothing new for me to add, so I'll just say I hope they come out flying on Friday!

When the periods over we head to the beverage carts. We have 3 sets of hair now so if we have 3 people we all have one. Hope to meet you at a game.

What they say about Stl. is true. I don't think as much for the fans support is true.

Pretty darn good, in their own way: Boston, Dallas, Pittsburgh, St. Louis, San Jose. Good support from fans and media when things are going good, but have to compete for attention with popular nearby pro sports franchises (i.e. football, baseball) much of the time.

Erik Johnson was sent to Peoria for conditioning but will be back up for the game against the Hawks Friday. Also, David Backes will be out a month with strained knee ligaments which is'nt good.

Blues Re-Introduce Popular Taco Promotion

ST. LOUIS – St. Louis Blues Chairman Dave Checketts announced today that the Blues have brought back the highly popular taco promotion at Scottrade Center. Every time the Blues score five or more goals this season at Scottrade Center, fans with a ticket stub from that game can come to Scottrade Center the day after from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. to receive a free taco. Additional tacos can be purchased for 99 cents. In 2006-07, the Blues scored five-or-more goals nine times at home.

“When I first heard fans chant ‘We Want Tacos’ I knew we had to figure out a way to re-institute this promotion,” said Checketts. “It is one of the many unique St. Louis Blues traditions and it has been dormant for too long. So, we are going to bring it back and hopefully we will be giving out a lot of them.”

This promotion will begin immediately for the Blues’ next home game on Tuesday, November 13 vs. Detroit at 6:30 p.m.

The only problem is that is not the original taco deal. It was 35cent tacos. They later limited you to 10 at a time and then it was from 11AM t0 2 PM

I agree its not the same the only way you can get the taco's is if you go to the game. I don't think its even at Taco Bell it says you have to go to the Scott Trade Center.

Well at least people won't sound like idiots now when they scream "We want tacos!" Erik Johnson is back and that should help the powerplay tonight against the Hawks.

Look's like Murray is going to have to crack the whip before we play the Wings Tuesday night. They played an un-inspired game last night and Legace kept the score down. They play that way Tuesday and they'll get blown out early.

they definately need to work on their special teams. Like you said if it wasn't for Manne it would have been ugly. Maybe when their standing around in front of him he should wack em up side the head, maybe that will wake them up. I still don't understand why they try to score everything inside the circles, get the puck to the point and shoot and go for the deflection or rebound. Right now its easy to defend against the blues, keep all yor guys inside the circles and you have them covered. The other thing about the Blues playing so tight in is that it leads to to many breaks and odd man rushes for their opponents. It looks like every team has figured that out and uses it to their advantage.

Hopefully the Blues will skate the whole 60 minutes tonight against a very good Wings club. Legace need's to be sharp tonight. As far as fights- I'll go with D.J. King against Aaron Downey if Downey dresses.

Yeah, I thought after the Wings jumped on top "Here we go again." but the guy's realy pulled it together in the 2nd period. The crowd was into it, that's for sure. Perron look's like the real deal and Legace got stronger as the game went on. I was hoping that someone would kill Holmstrom in front of the net. I think I hate him and Sean Avery of the Rangers about the same.

I was at the game last night. Right before the national anthem begun, someone yells "Detroit ****s!!". The whole place went nuts. The crowd was electric, and when Perron scored those two goals, wow. One thing I seen the Blues doing that I don't like is that they give up the blue line way too easy, backing into their zone. In the second period, they stood up more at the blue line, and were able to slow down the Wings offense. Then in the third period, they worked the boards a lot better, but started giving up the blue line again. Also, when clearing, go up the glass hard, and not across the ice in your own zone. Turnovers in our own zone almost cost the whole game, and accounted for at least one goal.

Too add to the insult, the Redwing's jet has been stuck in the mud at Lambert since midnight.:D:D:D:D

I think that was the loudest I have ever heard the crowd after we took the lead. The goal by Mayers was awsome. I thought the same thing about here we go when the puck kinda hopped rolled past Manne for the first goal. The detroit fans were abnoxious all game in our section, but we got sweet revenge. GO BLUES!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I think we may have made it on the Jumbo last night. Couldn't tell we were shaken our heads and letting the hair fly.
