Granite City residents & Tri-City

Complaints of “noise and dust” from nearby property owners… I’ve read that very same complaint before against a local dirt track.

If it comes to comes to a lawsuit, at least Tri-City Speedway’s ownership already knows an attorney that’s versed in this exact legal pleading. Well… I mean the lawyer would HAVE to reverse the argument by 180 degrees and defend against some of the VERY same complaints he launched against another dirt track.

Tri-City Speedway has a long history in the regions racing, and has had some awesome improvements done to it the last couple years. I hope it will continue to operate for years to come…. But I can’t help but see the irony in all this…. Karma is a beotch aint’ it! I just hope this little “karma smack” doesn’t end up causing the loose of another area racing facility!

There is definitely some sweet irony going on. I still hate to see any race track under attack like this.

Were they racing after 1:30a.m. on a Thursday night at the big modified show late this summer? If so that would be enough to make any neighbor angry.

I would hope that a curfew is the most that comes of this. Hopefully nothing comes of this. But, regaurdless, if a 11 pm curfew is mandated, I say raise heck till 10:59:59!!!!!!!!!

In the old St Charle's day they had to have the race started by 11:00 then they were fine, or at least that's the way it was supposed to be.

Couldn't have said it better myself. The track has been there since at least the early 60's....if you didnt know the track was there when you moved by it then its your own fault. But as usual, people complain and want someone else to do something about a decision they made.
Ain't it the truth...

Just a few things.......I talked to a co-worker of mine and her husband is a Madison county sheriff and when they get called out to a complaint about Tri-City there is nothing that they can do about it until after 3AM!!!!! She told me that Tri-City has a 20 year contract with the city that they will be done racing by 3am if it is going to last longer they have to do what every other track does and call to get permission to run later.......also maybe the people should not have moved there!!!!!! That track has too many fans to just shut it down maybe all the people that are complaining should just come join the rest of us at the track and we can show them what a great time we all have!!!!!!!

I do not have solid proof of the agreement but that is what she told me when I talked to her about this (they also live in the granite area)

tri-city

if the envireonmentilist wackos come in on this it is not about the noise level it will be about the dust if they determine it is harmful to the people in the area.if the e.p.a.determine that the dust is harmful to the people in the area they will shut it down and that would be a sad day after all the work they have done and all the money kevin has spent over the last 3 yrs.

the racetrack has been there for many years and is a great source of revenue for pontoon beach. Usually at rainouts and big shows racetrack goer's flock to local restaurants like denny's, applebees and kriegers, not to mention place like Mcdonalds are hot spots for people who don't have time to sit and dine.

The racetrack is a place where people network and get to know each other. Parents can let their kids play at the playground while they root on their favorite driver in a little friendly competition.

There are also several Nascar drivers that would agree with me when I say, "take away the race track, youre taking away the future NASCAR drivers. Where will they turn then?"

I beleive that granite city should be more worried about keeping children off drugs and cleaning up the drug houses in quiet calm neighbors, than worrying hemselvea with a little bit of noise every Friday night.

this isn't the 1st time this issue has surfaced, belleville runs into this all the time, for example. but, the bottom line is this; money talks, and runs city hall; with that being said, the local residents, with all their property/real estate taxes, and all associated things like that, bring in more $$$ to city hall than that track does;therefore, their 'voice' is a bit louder than the track's. unfortunately, thats the way it is.

I thought this was America where everyone has a choice. They choice to move by a race track they should move and stop complaining. Also why dont the politicians worry about jobs, schools, crime rates and homeless people before they worry about a business that has been there longer than most of them have been alive.........

politicians avoid the important issues until election time then they act like they worked their a**es off for you. they have no interest in the entertainment industry never will. I guess thats why are economy is the way it is politicians avoided another important issue the people and their well being. Until we turn this country back into the old america it once was things will go to hell ..........jmo

AMEN to that..:D

This whold deal is stupid. example lets say i'm moving to hartford and one day i get up and find 30 gal of diesel fuel leaking thru my basement wall. I wonder where that came from then i realize there is a refinery in my back yard. Do you honestly think they would shut down the refinery because of the poluttants and leakage underground hell no they would tell you there is nothing in the air or ground to be afraid of. Money is all the U. S . govt is worried about they would just tell me to go xxxx myself and give back that diesel fuel or i would be fined by the epa for illegal storage of govts. liquid gold
