Hoosier Tire rep to be at I-55 this Saturday to work with mods on new A40S tire

We dont need a h rule at pevely! We need them to build a decent tire! He told me last night that some cars were rolling across the scales and the rr tire was 290*,and nobody was lower than250*,i may be wrong, but i dont beleive that at all! I check the heat in my tires pretty often and have never rolled of pevelys track higher than *185! And the old a would last just fine at 185*

Rick Conoyer pretty much killed a new H last night and it was 250 degrees. It doesn't look good for awhile for the modifieds.

if this new tire wont make a regular feature... what is gonna happen when these guys start running the special events with more laps. as a fan I don't want to see a bunch of flat tires determine the outcome of a race,,, but on the other hand I can still drink the cold beer and eat plenty of hotdogs.. best of luck to all you guys, cuz I think you're in for an uphill battle....

Is this tire debacle turning NASCAR?

Are there going to be rules about how many tires you can have? Will they be givin to you at the track? Different tires for different tracks? Blown out tires causing big crashes cause they won't last?

I'm not sure I want to make that connection yet but it does't seem to be too far of a jump.

Good thing that rep came! I knew UMP and Hoosier would figure it out!
SMH
He worked with us on a new rr on our 3000 POUND sportsman... he had us cut and sipe the tire the way he wanted to and he replaced us with a new one at the end of the night.. the new tire i believe is the same compound as a d but he disagreed.. the tire is no longer usable after 23 laps of racing.. tire works well on starts and restarts. But as it builds heat and pressure it feels like your just skating on ice.. he told me if the track is dusty, and or dry slick do not use.. he said try an h.. i appreciated his one on one help but dont beleive this tire is better than the old a as the say it is.. all i can hope for is that they make 26.5 h and put us on hard tires.. if not i will not be going broke just to buy tires to race.. jmo..

Was wondering if they are having the same issue at Highland? It has been mainly the I55 guys on here. Realize tri city hasn't run yet so was just wondering

they need VIAGRA for tires--GET EM HARDER----------------------I made a deal to get some older As so I should be OK but some of the low bux guys may be SOL--------------------------JMO---------------AMF------------what???

As far as i know they are not having issues at highland! But it is completly differant, the track is much slower and usually wouldnt knock the tits off the old D's! Belleville wont be a problem either!

Thanks Dean. Realized much slower track that is why I was wondering. Would think Belleville will be same and Tri City will probably have the issues

An old d tire from back in the day durometered at 35-40 brand new. An a40 from last year was 50 points. And an h I'm not sure. Does anyone have any numbers on new tire yet. Lower number = more wear, and Hoosier says it on their website and I quote. ( the wear will prevent the tire from "sealing up" in marginal track conditions. Only way to prevent "sealing up" is to remove layers. Because our old tires didn't wear as fast, but we hand ground them to remove a layer or "glaze". And in my opinion a tire that is 200 something degrees will never last and just think guys, tires are that hot already imagine in July they will be 350 and exploding. At Pevely Sat the outside was 40s it's gonna be 100 deg soon. Tracks will be harder and more abrasive. Imagine a rubbered up track these tires won't last 2 laps. Slowest guy wins that race.

It's hard to get heat in your tires at Highland when there is a caution every 4 laps... I have stopped editing our GoPro videos because it takes too damn long to cut out 57 caution laps! Hopefully Macon will be better this Saturday and we can see how these tires wear on a smaller track. We are running our A's from last year and will continue until we burn them up but I will talk with the guys running them and see how it goes...

While pavement might be different a customer of mine was running at a track that was having trouble with the right side tires getting used up too quickly. They were on a one tire a week rule so this was a problem. After some testing they came up with a different tire that wore much longer but what was interesting was that the rubber compound on the tire was not different than the old tire the difference was in the tire carcass which was constructed differently.

Has there ever been a test at a track with the AR and Hoosier at same time? If not nobody should speak on which one is better or faster. With that said the problem is with UMP really not Hoosier...giving hoosier the monopoly drives prices up and allows for crap tires...
Actually the tires have been tested head to head. I dont remember the year now. But for a short while 2 or 3 yrs. Danville,il boswell in and a few other local tracks ran unsanctioned. People had a choice between ump hoosiers and the American Racers in soft, medium, or hard compounds. And if you wanted to keep up you had to be on american racers. There was also less tire maintenance and the american racers went alot more heat cycles before falling off. The same thing played out in the local sportsman class only over a much longer period of time. I have been a lifelong fan of hoosier racing tire, hell i'm wearing my hoosier hat now so i am not trying to bash just stating facts. Keep in mind i am not talking about the old imca american racer that USMTS, and USRA use this American racer tire is a chain link tread like the ump tire only larger chain link. They are currently being used by renegades of dirt and several unsanctioned mod tracks in the south east. And they still perform better and sell cheaper than the ump hoosier.

how much more will it take before MO, IL and IN racers finally get it that its past time for UMP and Hoosier to both hit the road. They are not helping the racer. Switching to USRA would be a huge upgrade. A better and cheaper tire and a sanction that actually cares about modifieds. As long as UMP and Hoosier are in this together this will never be fixed correctly.
