re: mt vernon

Mr. What happened tonight is a very very sad thing. And all you can think about is how much the track is gonna get sued. Get real man. Better yet get a life. Do you think the track owner is thinking about how bad they are gonna get sued. I THINK NOT ! I can garauntee you that is the farthest thing from thier mind right now. This may be a bad thing to say right now : BUT, I HOPE TO GOD SOMEONE FROM THOSE FAMILIES POPS YOU RIGHT SQUARE IN THE MOUTH !

Now, Put that in your pipe and smoke it. Cause obviously your smoking something .

likapimp I don't know if you were at Mt.vernon or not but if you saw what I did the track getting sued would be the furthest thing from your mind.

My thoughts and prayers go out to all involved

you guys are missing the point i am trying to make, all you want to do is badmouth me you need to focus on the real problem, safety its time to adress it, why would one of the victims familys hit me, im on their side 100 percent, it was wrong and shouldnt have happed, and gofast one why do you want to meet me face to face you couldnt whip your way out of a wet paper bag, and im not violent so dont run your mouthcuz you dont want to see me face to face buddy!well never meet face to face at mt vernon agin anyway,i made one comment not bashing anyone and look how you people act, what a joke.

This thread is about sending out prayers to the family's, not discussing what could have been done. Dont get me wrong, i'm sure it needs to be talked about, but now is not the time. We have many people in the racing family in the hospital, and one or more that is no longer with us, lets do all we can right now to support them and their families.
Fighting with one another is not the answer!

No matter how safe you make a track, or a car, or even a building, there is NO WAY you can make it safe enough to consider every possible variable that may come into play.

Look at the World Trade Center! It was designed to be earthquake proof and even bomb proof - to a certain extent - it survived the bombing in the 1990's. The fact that someone woud steer a jet loaded with fuel and people at full speed into the building, was just something that was so out of comprehension - at the time. Then it happened - twice!

Same thing here. The safety barriers that were in place at the track did a fine job all these years. Then a freak occurance tested the safety barriers beyond their limits.

The ONLY good that can come out of tragedies like this, is that it will force ALL tracks to take a closer look at their facilities and what COULD happen. But then again, there is only so much you can do with the unknown. The tracks ARE inspected regularly by the insurers - but even they can only recommend/require so much.

It is hoped that all families involved will make it through this and know that the ENTIRE racing community is there for them!

To the driver that was involved, I hope you understand that this was a freak accident and you did all you could. You too have our support and deepest sympathies.

May God be with the fans that witnessed this, all of the families involved, the injured and the families of those lost.

I agree, nothing matters right now except the suffering of the injured and killed and their families. These arguments are completely insensitive to the families of all those involved.

Prayers for all those affected by tonights tragedy.

Man what a terrible thing.... i was sitting RIGHT THERE, and people kept saying the girl in the black shirt, which was me, i only got hit just a lil in the leg, bruised the bone, maybe fractured, goin2 hospital in the morn, but nuttin to worry about, but neways, they kept asking where i was.... well i was standing to the side, pale as a ghost, looking at the scene shaking with fear, shock, and disbelief.... i dont think ive ever came that close to dian in my life.... 12 inches and 2 seconds.... it was terrible.... just think of all those who not only seen that, but went through great pain afterwards from getting severly injured.... im askin yall to PLEASE pray for them, their friends, family, everyone who had to witness that.... its going to be so hard to get that outta my head.... 13 years old and a 2500 lb car or so headed full throttle straight for you.... wouldnt you have nightmares? and just think of how the injured will sleep.... or the families to the ones who have passed. yall please pray.... R I P and Get better to everyone

Please, everyone remember, there are many people involved....it takes time to get in touch with family members and to sort out the facts from the rumors that are already flying around. Please don't describe details or name any names. Not only could it impede the investigation into the true cause of this accident but there could be family members or friends of those fatally injured who don't yet know. Don't let them find out from reading gruesome details on this board. Tomorrow will tell us all more. Tonight we should focus of pulling the whole racing community together to show our support. Our family is still in shock and our hearts go out to EVERYONE involved including the owners of Mt. Vernon Raceway.

Likapimp, you didn't post anything that some others aren't thinking but this really isn't the time or place to make your comments. We understand your point but right now too many people are in shock and wondering if it's someone they know who was fatally injured. Emotions are running high and you are only inflaming them at this time.

Pointing fingers and saying I told you so is not the way to go. Instead of attacking MVR, we should all let this tragic accident be a lesson to us all. We all know of instances where there were close calls, where accidents may have happened or things deliberately done. We should learn from this and all become more concious of the possible consequence to our actions whether it be standing next to the track watching the race or driving thru the pit area. It isn't just the track's responsibility...it's the responsibility of everyone who steps foot onto the grounds of the track. Don't turn this into a what if or because of type of drama.

I'm not trying to flame anyone or bash them. I wasn't there and I can only imagine the scene. It's sickening, horrifying, shocking and bad enough to make me physically ill. For those who witnessed it or were involved in it I can't even begin to imagine what they are feeling or thinking. I pray for the driver of the car as well as the victims. Right now, everyone involved needs our thoughts of goodwill and prayers of support. We don't need name calling or posturing with threats of fighting.

May the lord lend his strength to all this day.

i promise, i think the racing community is the closest together than ANY sport.... ya know? if something happened like this in anything else, theyd shrug it off and go sue.... but were all like comin together and helpin eachother.... i like it

What a sickening accident. God bless all those involved tonight, as well as the ones who will be effected by this in the days to come. Often times something positive can come from tragedy. I don't think safety is an area that can ever stop progressing. I hope that everyone who loves this sport, drivers, promoters, and crewmen alike, take a long look at ways to improve. For now we should simply pray for these folks.

Likapimp this message is for you If you don't know what your talking about SHUT UP.
For your info i believe when you buy your ticket at the track there's a sign that says not responable for accidents that means when you buy your ticket your on your own.
As for the pit bleachers you sign a release form when you buy your pit pass that realeases the track from libility. So for now just shut up there's more things to worry about than your stupidity. AND GOD BLESS ALL THAT WAS INVOLVED

i think i made myself clear on what i said, i dont think thats stupidity, stupidity is when your at a race track and a car drives strait through a wall and into the seats, i pray for the families of this disaster, neverin my life have i seen a full bodied stock car driver through a wall, what was it made out of aluminum? im upset for the people involved and people should keep their tracks safe, not just mt.vernon all tracks.

My thoughts and prayers go out to all who were involved in this tragedy. I am still in shock....and can't believe what happened! My prayers go out to all the families of those who lost their lives, and those who had to witness probably one of the worst things you could ever imagine.

Sure hate to hear this news. I hope the driver knows that this in not in any way his fault and puts no blame on his self. We are there just about every Sat. night sure am glad I didn't get in time to make it this weekend would hate to see something like that. I have seen many cars hit the wall in that area with no problems, this is just a freak accident you cant blame the track owners they want everyone to be safe. If they felt that there was a problem in that area I am sure they would have corrected it. Every night we go there to race I set there and watch as many of the late model qualify as I can and have always felt safe. I could go there every night until I turn 90 and nothing like this will ever happen again, you just don't hear of things like this they are so rare I think it is a shock to everyone. Fell so sorry for all involved and everyone that witnessed this. May God be with you all.

I haven't been to Mt. Vernon in awhile, but I'm am deeply sadden to hear of anything like this happening at any track. It's very sadden, and heartfelt when you hear of something like this. This could of happened at any track, any where...My thoughts go out to everyone involved in this as well as the driver....as being a DRIVER'S WIFE...and my sister's boyfriend driving....and many GOOD friends....I can't imagine, and I think about this all time...when my husband is strapping in for his race.....it's just really just hard to think about....this could have been anyone of us in the racing community...and my thoughts and prayers probably aren't enought at this time but I do have everyone in my thoughts and prayers....It's just a VERY awful thing that happened to everyone involved. Why do people want to jump to someone getting SUED....no one is thinking about that right now....My thoughts and prayers are with the families and friends and love ones that are all involved. If your a driver, owner, relative, we all know this could have been anyone of us...please keep them all in your prayers.
